A Heads Up

Good day everyone! I just wanted to gather everyone round so I could have a quick chat with you all. Really, I should do this more often, you know, as a community thing.

First things first, I’d like to thank you all for A Week of Love and Hate. It was a success! And it was awesome seeing lots of articles written by lots of people. It really made a change. It was also nice having a week of me not having to actually write anything at all. There’s also something interesting to note: We all thought in a similar way and ended up writing somewhat similar articles. Soldier didn’t get a look in. We missed him out completely.

Alright, with that out of the way, I’d like to make a few notes about articles in general. There’s a lot of unfinished articles. Some of them of course are busy being written and all that, but a lot of them are, well, dead. I understand that people are busy. So if you don’t think that you’re ever going to finish an article, would you mind doing one of three things please:

1. Trash the article. Delete it. Whatever.
2. If you can’t delete the article, let me know and I’ll delete it.
3. Put the article up for adoption. Perhaps someone else will finish it off. If you want to do this, put “Adopt me!” in the title.

Once you’ve written your article and are 100% happy with it, please stick it in the Pending section. If you’re not done yet, move it into the Drafts section. If all your text is done but you just need an image, then you can put it in Pending and I’ll sort out pictures. This is for organization purposes, so I know your article is finished or not. As for images, if you want anything in particular, let me know! I can make or arrange photos for a lot of things, as can people like sham1, gen. Degroot and witchyy, assuming you ask nicely.

Either way, a picture will be added, as this is used for the Featured section on the Home Page and on Related Articles and all that. If you get your own picture, please upload it here on the Daily SPUF rather than linking elsewhere. It steals other people’s bandwidth and makes articles look bad if the image is later moved or deleted. You can also add videos to your articles rather than dropping in links: simply click Add Media, then Insert URL. Your video will appear, so click Insert Into Post. Golden!

Speaking of golden, just so you all know, anyone who writes for the Daily SPUF or helps out (looking at you, supremecommander and iGamr) can answer questions posted in the Dear Aaby section. You can answer in several ways: post directly in the Dear Aaby article, make a new post called “My response to *Dear Aaby question*” or message me or aabicus on SPUF or Steam, and we’ll add it to the article for you. If you want to ask a question, just post a new article and make sure it’s in the Dear Aaby category.

With all that said and done, I’m planning a few more mini-events soon. Not too soon of course, but I feel that we all enjoyed A Week of Love and Hate, it’s worth doing another in the future. I’d also like your input on what else the Daily SPUF can do. We’ve got a couple of series coming along, my own first steps into competitive TF2, and Sham1 heading into CS:GO, not to mention aabicus’s dealings in Left 4 Dead. Is there anything else you want to see? Let us know!

Finally, can we maybe not go off topic so much in the SPUF thread? Cheers.
