Medic Does Competitive – 6v6 and 4v4 Week 3

Well, it’s going from bad to worse around here, as this week left me not really wanting to play TF2 any more. It’s all too much for me, I’m far too inexperienced and rusty and I suck at 5cp.

Really, it’s all my fault. With Confusion missing in action still, I had to organize everything again. But this week I have been caught up by real life too. I didn’t manage to organize a scrim or anything at all, so this week’s maps, cp_Sunshine and koth_badlands were both untouched.

The biggest problem was trying to find a time for people to play. W0lk was unavailable on Tuesday and Wednesday. I wasn’t available on Wednesday and was too exhausted from work. I arranged for the 6’s match to happen on Friday since they couldn’t play on Thursday or Tuesday. Arranging a scrim was nigh impossible too since no one was available to practice and I don’t really have any connections, nor do I know what the fuck I’m doing. But the problems didn’t end there.

Friday comes along. I’ve spent the last few days running around cp_Sunshine, trying to get a feel for it. I’ve watched this match a lot. I watched a lot of rollout videos. I don’t know if I absorbed any of it, but oh well.

Things start to get worse. Sham was caught up in family stuff, so he missed the entirety of our pre-game chats and talks where we go over tactics. W0lk was screwed over by his internet company, who, instead of telling him that his payment had failed and to resend it, decided to silently cut his internet speeds by 90% so he couldn’t play. Confusion still wasn’t around so we had Jensen fill in as pocket. In a desperate last bid I brought in Maxillaws to play Roamer Soldier, but 250 ping and randomly going AFK throughout the match screwed us a bit.

As for the match itself? I don’t even want to talk about it. We utterly fucked up our rollouts, no one listened to anyone else and we always made it to mid after the enemy team, so we’d all just die. I found myself repeatedly stuck with 20 second respawn times. We could have pushed back but our rollouts basically cost us the game. It was all over in under 10 minutes, that’s how bad we were.

Finished the game with 9 deaths and 1 assist. I didn’t manage to get a single fucking Uber.

There’s no plus side this week. I don’t really care that our 4v4 opponent forfeit, stating that they don’t want to play 4v4 any more. Our team was still denied a trip back to Steel, we’re just going to have to play and probably lose. No, I’m not in a good mood. No, I don’t really want to play any more. Yes, I am angry.
