Predictions, Preditions – What will happen in TF Comics #5?

According to Jay Pinkerton, the writing person and one of the maniacs behind the TF Comic series, issue five of this damn thing is coming out on Monday 31st September. So it’s down to me to make an article speculating on what will happen in said comic. Among many, many things. One thing that saddens me is that the first thing people are speculating on is whether the comic will actually come out on Monday or not. That’s really depressing. Dota 2 basically sucked the comic writers dry.

Before we begin, there’s a prize at stake here. I’ll give out a small prize to the person who correctly guesses what happens in the next comic. You can either post your answer as a comment here or on SPUF. Obviously this contest ends when the comic is released.

But yes, back to speculating about things IN the comic. Because I could spend all day feeling sad that yet again deadlines were missed and that Valve can’t even remember one of their games’ birthdays… *sniff* Anyway,  I’ve done loads of speculating before, but it’s always fun to speculate more now that we have a date of some sort.

The trip so far has been fucking insane. Quick note, spoiler alert for the few people who are waiting for the comic series to finish before reading all of it. I know some of you people do that. Otherwise this is all stuff that us normal people who read episodic things as they come out have probably already seen.

Hints-wise, we’ve had two – Miss Pauling is gay, which means that at some point we may get some rejection between Miss Pauling and Scout. But it’s also equally likely that nothing will continue to happen, and Expiration Date happened to be a fluke. No proper date has actually happened yet and it’s improbable that Miss Pauling and Scout will get together properly. Then there was that thing with Medic standing over Sniper’s body. I’m pretty sure Sniper isn’t going to kick the bucket. He’ll die briefly then come back, or just be sleeping.

But what about the other mercs? They’re probably going to be captured by the TFC mercs. Their weapons were stuck inside the submarine that Sniper’s dad stole. Really, their only chance of survival is to comply and do as the TFC mercs say.

That is, until help arrives. It wouldn’t surprise me if Scout and Heavy don’t find out what happened. The TFC mercs know (they certainly should) that there are other mercs apart from the ones they have pinned down. And of course Engineer can’t spend forever with the Administrator. He’ll find out too and want to go and save them, no matter what Helen says.

So, what do I think will happen? This:

Miss Pauling and the mercs get captured. Medic tries to stop Sniper from dying because he feels guilty. TFC mercs try and find out where the administrator is hiding, but no one talks. Heavy and Scout make their way to New Zealand and find out what happened. They find a way to report back to the Administrator, and Engineer finds out. Engineer leaves Helen’s side to team up with Heavy, Scout and Hale to find out where the TFC mercs are. They head off to save their friends. Everyone’s freed, but they all meet up again and the comic ends with Medic being torn between siding with the TF2 or TFC mercs.

Why do I care about what happens so much? Well, after A Cold Day in Hell, I spent a couple of weeks in the TFC subforum, and Blood on the Water didn’t help matters. I don’t fancy spending another few weeks hiding in a different subforum because SPUF wants to kill me…

Medic

Medic, also known as Phovos (or occasionally Dr Retvik Von Scribblesalot), writes 50% of all the articles on the Daily SPUF since she doesn't have anything better to do. A dedicated Medic main in Team Fortress 2 and an avid speedster in Warframe, Phovos has the unique skill of writing 500 words about very little in a very short space of time.
