On Struggling To Write Articles Again

Lately, it’s been a real struggle to write articles for the Daily SPUF. Normally we have 10 articles ready to go, but because I’ve been busy with real life, that number has dropped down to around 5, and I really need to start writing articles again. The problem is, I’ve kinda just… written so much lately, that doing Daily SPUF articles is hard. And no wonder. I just went and checked my stats on my profile, and I have written over 2750 articles on my own. That is a LOT of articles. A minimum of 1.3 million words, assuming every… [Continue Reading]

A Phoviverse MOC Article – Part 2

In yesterday’s article, I went through the two teams of beings that survived the death of the old MK4 Phoviverse. The Phoviverse is my long-running fictional universe, filled with a myriad of different beings which I swear are not all related to Bohrok. It just so happens that Allmaker Kinisis, the in-fiction creator of the universe, had an obsession with the species her son was taken from, and reused a lot of species blueprints to create the races of her universe. She also shared these blueprints with her fellow Life Goddesses, who ended up making very similar beings. Anyway, here… [Continue Reading]

A Phoviverse MOC Article – Part 1

The thing that got me into writing was Bionicle. The first forum I ever signed up for was BZPower, the original big Bionicle forum, and from there, I joined multiple writing forums (being an admin for one for years), eventually getting into writing for the Daily SPUF and also writing my own fiction, the Phoviverse. Now, I’ve mentioned both the Phoviverse and my original long-term Bionicle fan fiction, the Bohrok-Kal’s Ramblings, before, but, well, I also have a lot of, well, actual Bionicles. When I finally got my own apartment and was no longer sharing with my brother, I inherited… [Continue Reading]

A Valentines Day Article

I’ve never liked Valentines Day. In fact, despite me being in my thirties, I’ve only actually only properly celebrated it once with a partner. And, frankly, that whole relationship was a waste of my time, dedication and money. I wouldn’t call myself jilted or anything, but I’ve never had a good real-life relationship, and a day about love and partnership has always pissed me off. In previous articles discussing Valentines Day, I’ve also called it an annoyingly commercialized day, with a vast amount of pressure put on people to spend money on their loved ones. Often more on men than… [Continue Reading]

Fuck Jetpack

When I was new to WordPress, there was this handy plugin called Jetpack. Made by a company called Automattic, it added a ton of useful features, all for free. These included things like extra widgets, an easy contact form you could add to your website, a vastly detailed stat system and an easy way to post blog posts to other websites. Sure, Jetpack constantly tried to sell you its premium version, after all, that’s what most free plugins do to try and make money, but the features it offered were great, and the price for the premium stuff wasn’t too… [Continue Reading]

On Writing About Shapeshifters

Shapeshifting is probably one of the most overpowered super powers. You can be pretty much anyone, do pretty much anything and also access a wide array of other powers, based on how that shapeshifting works. That being said, I don’t see shapeshifting much in video games. Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any popular games where you play as some kind of shapeshifter. The one exception for this is various classes in games like World of Warcraft, but even then, the shapeshifting is limited. Despite that, there is one place where I’ve seen lots of shapeshifting,… [Continue Reading]

On Finishing Another Year of Writing

It’s kinda silly that my first piece of writing for 2024 is about finishing my writing for 2023. But I feel like I have things to discuss. The 4000th article was a bit of a downer, mostly because, well, I’ve been down lately. But over the Christmas break, I got a much needed rest, and with it, I found the energy to get back into writing. Most of that writing though hasn’t been Daily SPUF stuff. Some of it definitely has, but thankfully, aabicus managed to write a bunch of articles, which gave me a small break in the new… [Continue Reading]

The 4000th Article

Well, here we are. The 4000th article. I suppose I should be pretty proud. After all, we’ve been keeping this blog daily for over 10 years, and have produced all sorts of interesting literature. We’ve covered a lot here at the Daily SPUF. Between a small handful of writers, we have torn games inside and out, written very long articles about very small things, gone out to local comic conventions, beaten things to death with a digital fish on drugs and spent way too much time with the colour yellow. I wouldn’t say our blog is the most varied blog… [Continue Reading]

Happy 2024!

It’s a new year! That means lots of new things! We can forget about the mess that was 2023 and look forward to a fresh start. One that involves me doing a lot more writing. There’s a huge amount of work ahead of me, and a whole new year to hopefully not screw up. So what does 2024 have in store for us? Well, I’m not sure, I’m not from the future. But one thing I know for certain we will have is time travel. In Warframe. Because we’re getting Warframe 1999 this year. And, if what we saw in… [Continue Reading]

A Christmas Article 2023

Today is Christmas Day, a day of celebration and gifts and stuff. It’s a hideously over-commercialized holiday and companies want you to spend tons of money so that their shareholders make even more millions. But at the same time, it’s also supposed to be a time to be with family. Hopefully, you don’t hate your family and spend it together, but the ‘tradition’ (more like a trope) is that Christmas is a massive mess and everyone hates each other and no one gets along, but somehow, at the end of the day, some people are happy. Personally, this Christmas for… [Continue Reading]
