I was lazily browsing through the Free To Play section on the Steam catalogues (yes I know I’m a cheapskate) when I found this: After double-checking to make sure that it isn’t the old Alien Swarm, I did some extra digging. Turns out, this actually started off as a ModDB entry. The team behind it submitted it onto Greenlight and it passed. And since it’s on Steam for some time I assume they have Valve’s blessing. Oh hey, Invasion is here.

Oh hey, Invasion is here. And it’s pretty much replaced the Halloween event, running until November 5th with the Invasion Pass. Basically this update is a gigantic community Gun Mettle Update, with the contributors doing all of the work and Valve still getting a good bit of the rewards. Same as before, do challenges in-game on official servers and get weapons, or get special rare crates that need keys to open. UFOs spotted! The End is Nigh!

There are aliens in TF2! There had been hints of a possible Invasion update for some time now, but Valve has actually done a great job of keeping this one under wraps, perhaps having learned from the toxic effect all the End of the Line hype had caused.
