SPUF is Kill

Maybe it’s a false alarm, maybe somebody somewhere hit the wrong button, maybe it’s a late April Fools’ joke. But right now, our beloved Steam User Forums redirects to SCUD. Update:¬†According to Ianskate, SPUF moderator, it’s official, SPUF is gone. This happened extremely recently (I was surfing SPUF a few minutes before it stopped letting me) and it’s something people have kinda maybe vaguely suspected might happen at some point, but not really because Valve has loads of money and there were at least a few thriving communities, such as the TF2, Dota 2, CSGO and Off-Topic forums. SCUD even… [Continue Reading]

Medic’s First Time in Planetside 2

You ever get that feeling where you’re supposed to be doing something, like attacking the objective, but aren’t? Or are doing it in a way that totally isn’t helpful? Or are completely lost and supposed to be doing something? Well, that’s how I feel about Planetside 2. Before we start, I joined the purple guys. Their space suits looked cooler. And I have to agree with aabicus, their butts are nicer too. Of course, I decided to play the tutorial. Which kinda made sense, I think. Aabicus, the resident person who plays Planetside 2, decided to bring me along into… [Continue Reading]

Rest in Peace, Skyrim Saves

It turns out, after my hard drive died, there were only three major casualties. OpenBroadcastSystem doesn’t want to work on my computer but I’ll probably fix that. I forgot to copy over my Screenshots folder, but since I have a lot of my screenshots uploaded and a lot of my screenshots are copied to my Random folder (dunno why it is called that), it doesn’t matter that they’re all gone now. But the biggest victim for all of this is Skyrim. Skyrim is actually a horrible thing when it comes to mods. It’s not enough to download a mod and… [Continue Reading]

It all dies in the end…

When was the last time you played something other than Payload, Attack/Defend, Capture the Flag, King of the Hill or Control Points? Was it a while go? Probably. You might not have touched some of the letter game modes in years. Not that I blame you, there’s a lot of excitement right now for matchmaking, everyone’s all geared up for it. The chosen maps are mostly 5CP, with the odd other random map thrown in. Apparently Viaduct is in there somewhere. I like Viaduct, always been a fan of King of the Hill. Normal Viaduct isn’t the greatest map, the… [Continue Reading]

Dawnguard Snipin’ – Part 4

You know what’s bloody depressing? A purple, agony-filled hell-hole. But that’s where I currently am, after the events from last time round. I gotta go and find bitchy vampire girl’s mummy in this nasty place. Alright, let’s get this over with. Huh, this place is creepy. And purple. I suppose it’s as good a place as any to hide from some crazy vampire guy. There are weird glowing things dotted around the landscape, but I have no idea what any of them do. Jumped into one, nothing happened. Like, at all. They just look pretty. There’s a bunch of random… [Continue Reading]

The potentially unintentional PAYDAY: The Heist update 1.22.0

On a normal day after a Nintendo Direct had finished up, I decided I was going to play some good old PAYDAY: The Heist. I was about ready to launch the game when I noticed that there was an update required to the game. “Strange,” I thought, this game hasn’t updated since December of 2012. Regardless, I inquired about the update with a peer and they also confirmed that they got an update. There were no patch notes available anywhere, and nobody seemed to know what was going on. It was first noticed on the Payday subreddit on Nov 12… [Continue Reading]

Why I’m Bothered By The New Medigun-Dropping Mechanic

It’s actually not very often that me and aabicus disagree on things, but somehow we’ve found something to argue about. Possibly. It’s not really arguing, more like politely putting down our opinions and compromising with one another. I don’t think we’ve ever really argued. But the sudden implementation of Medi Guns keeping Uber when dropped is certainly something to discuss between two Medic players who spend a lot of time running a blog together. Weapon switching does very much spice up the meta, which, when you look at it competitively, often gets very stale. Heck, even Valve servers get stale… [Continue Reading]

A Trip to Edge of Reality

Loadout is an amazing game that you should still totally go try out if you haven’t played it already. I’ve written about it twice before, and when I recently moved to Austin one of the secondary reasons was a desire to meet the developers. Edge of Reality is a company that has developed both original games and console ports since 1999, and as a huge fan of their self-published shooter I drove to Edge of Reality’s studio this Tuesday in the hopes of meeting them. I had obtained their address from Google: 6500 River Place Blvd. River Place is a… [Continue Reading]

Medic Does Competitive – 6v6 and 4v4 Week 3

Well, it’s going from bad to worse around here, as this week left me not really wanting to play TF2 any more. It’s all too much for me, I’m far too inexperienced and rusty and I suck at 5cp. Really, it’s all my fault. With Confusion missing in action still, I had to organize everything again. But this week I have been caught up by real life too. I didn’t manage to organize a scrim or anything at all, so this week’s maps, cp_Sunshine and koth_badlands were both untouched. The biggest problem was trying to find a time for people… [Continue Reading]
