Good Riddance, 2021!

Today is New Year’s Eve, and I’m feeling rather nostalgic. We had a great Christmas and everything went very well. Since it’s the end of the year, I feel like it’s time for… well, not a recap, but a ramble through 2021. A year that somehow breezed past. Seriously, this year felt short. Things happened but everything just feels… mangled up, I guess? A transformative year. For me personally, this year has been all over the damn place. Spent a good chunk of the year feeling depressed and anxious, but now I am actually trying to fix stuff. The angry… [Continue Reading]

The New Steam Library

I’ve been meaning to write an update about the new Steam Library look for a while, but I’ve not been able to put my finger on when it comes to what I do and don’t like about it. But frankly, the very first thing I did when I saw the new Steam Library was roll my eyes. The second thing I did, as soon as I saw the Steam Library, was wonder why it was weirdly slow. Turns out, the Steam Library shows a ton of community stuff and has loads of transitions and things like that. Thanks to the… [Continue Reading]

Accursed Farms’ “Games as a Service is Fraud” Video and Dead Game News

Ross Scott, the creator of Accursed Farms, Freeman’s Mind and Ross’s Game Dungeon, spent ages making a video saying that Games as a Service is Fraud. The gist is that because a game can be completely shut off, remove servers, force online only and otherwise deny the consumer the right to use something they purchase. You may think that your game that you bought will last forever but your game can disappear and be taken away from you at the drop of a hat, with no way of your purchase being salvageable. So really, do you own a game at… [Continue Reading]

Woo, 2019!

Where the fuck did 2018 go? One second it was January, the next it was April, August flew by, September was nonexistent and I don’t even remember where November went! And now it’s January 1st, 2019! Yeah. 2019. Somehow. Seriously, the time dragon has really sped things up over the course of 2018, hasn’t he? Anyway, 2018 was… eh, it was okay, I guess? It wasn’t an amazing year but it wasn’t a really horrible year either. Just another average year. There were some cool games released, like the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon remasters, Monster Hunter World, Hitman… [Continue Reading]

Slow Internet Connections and You

It’s funny isn’t it? How slow internet speeds can really piss you off. Should your internet connection suddenly disappear (generally because of power cuts or whatever), you get a little angry about it, but then you calm down and move on. There is nothing you can do, so you get over your losses and move on. But slow internet connections? They are one of the most rage-inducing things in existence, alongside things like stubbing your toe and stepping on LEGO pieces. The opportunity to get things done, to watch your video or view a gif of a kitten falling over… [Continue Reading]

Buying Online Gifts in 2017

It’s coming up to Christmas, and I’m sure at least some of us are looking to get some gifts for others. Me not to much since I a. am skint and b. have already bought presents for my family, but that probably won’t stop me getting a few gifts for some close buddies. The problem is, the number one source of gifts for gamers seems to have become more and more of a pain in the ass when it comes to giving gifts. You see, in the good old days of a few years ago, you could buy a bunch… [Continue Reading]

The Third Jack Box Party

It was nearly a year ago that I wrote about a very fun game to play when drunk. Despite the fact that I don’t drink. Now, I’m not really a party person. I don’t get invited out anywhere unless a sibling or cousin invites me, mostly because I hate parties. But here I am, talking about another party game. This time round, it was my sister’s 20th birthday. She wanted everyone to play party games with her. Of course, brother comes along with his library of about twenty billion games, and drags out a game called the Jackbox Party Pack… [Continue Reading]

Playing With Other People

It turns out that most of my life, I’ve been a bit of a lone wolf. Yes, I’m a Medic main, but I don’t really play that much with other people, I’m more likely to play a game on my own and maybe invite people round later. It does depend on the game, but games with other people tend to have a lot of different obstacles to jump over, to the point where I just end up playing alone. Getting the timing right is the big one. There’s people I genuinely enjoy playing with, but they’re never online, or one… [Continue Reading]

Anger, real life and video games

Lately, I have been incredibly angry and upset. Real life has been a horrible pile of crap with things going wrong everywhere. My laptop is breaking, my phone is getting old, we’ve had a huge water leak and sewage issues and internet issues and the list just goes on and on. Of course the constant stress of all this is starting to get to me and beat me senseless. Combined with the lack of anything to really look forward to as of late, you lose track of things. I need to relax. Which I will do, during my week holiday… [Continue Reading]

Contest Entry: Unturned (by Bacxaber)

Unturned is a zombie survival game where the player must aquire food/water, armour, weapons and supplies to craft things. The game was immediately appealing to me, given that it reminded me of the Blockhead series in terms of style. I was quite upset to learn about the food/water meters, as I find myself unable to enjoy my time playing such games whilst I have those problems constantly looming over my head. That said, I see why it’s there. There wouldn’t be much point to the game otherwise. You start off completely naked (literally, you don’t have pants) and you can… [Continue Reading]
