Getting rid of 2 years worth of memories.

So, recently I liquidated my TF2 babies and turned them to raw cash. And by babies I mean my favourite and most sentimental items. And by raw cash I mean Steam wallet money. It’s a weird feeling parting with something you’ve been with for so long, as embarrassing as it might sound, after spending so much time with them, I felt like those cosmetics were a part of me, mostly because before buying them I spend hours deciding on it, and even more so because of them being acquired via trading instead of actual money which means that a lot of… [Continue Reading]

A Trip to Edge of Reality

Loadout is an amazing game that you should still totally go try out if you haven’t played it already. I’ve written about it twice before, and when I recently moved to Austin one of the secondary reasons was a desire to meet the developers. Edge of Reality is a company that has developed both original games and console ports since 1999, and as a huge fan of their self-published shooter I drove to Edge of Reality’s studio this Tuesday in the hopes of meeting them. I had obtained their address from Google: 6500 River Place Blvd. River Place is a… [Continue Reading]

Godspeed, Satoru Iwata

It has been announced that on July 11th, 2015, Satoru Iwata, head of Nintendo Corporation, has died due to complications related to a bile duct growth. The gaming community, especially  Nintendo’s, has been wracked by this event, and has given their condolences. Satoru Iwata, born on the 6th of December in 1959, became interested in making video games early on, and eventually joined HAL Labratory, where he was responsible in the participation of many games, including Kirby, Earthbound, and Balloon Fight. Eventually, he was promoted to president of HAL Labratory, who became responsible for bringing the company out of bankruptcy. As the head of Nintendo, he… [Continue Reading]

One of the best GMOD Video makers is gone…

Today has been a bad week for, well, everyone, particularly the GMOD and TF2 communities. kitty0706, esteemed Garry’s Mod and TF2 video maker, most famous for Team Fabulous 2, has passed away. According to Facepunch and later on Reddit, Colin Wyckoff (Kitty0706) passed away on 25th January 2015, after a long struggle against Leukemia. According to those who knew him, he was always upbeat and optimistic. May he rest in peace, free from pain. The rest of this video will be dedicated to some of kitty0706’s best videos. Coherent GMOD animation takes skill, no matter what people say.   Be right back,… [Continue Reading]

In Memory of XYTWO

XYTWO was one of the most recognizable SPUF regulars in the TF2 forums. He participated in conversations serious or silly, long or short, and far as I know he got along well with everyone. He had a fondness for Asian cartoons and he mained Pyro. He was among the top posters in all of the various itsurblogs and he even wrote one of our first guest articles. The two of us had a running gag hailing from the 1st Itsurblog’s D&D session where we’d pretend to have UST for each other. Spycicle has recently informed the forum that XYTWO died… [Continue Reading]

Rest in Peace, Hello! thread

On September 29th 2014, the Hello! thread, originally created in the Team Fortress Classic forum, was brutally murdered, after a traumatic last two days. What’s the Hello! thread, you ask? Well, it started off as a joke when TF2 Comics #3: A Cold Day in Hell, was released. Being called the Medic, I realised that I had indeed betrayed my mercenaries and took shelter in the Team Fortress Classic forum. This silly thread slowly turned into first a TF2 discussion thread and then into an itsurblog thread. But the Hello! thread was a nice thread. The pace was slow. The… [Continue Reading]

Life is Rough When You Lose Your Stuff

I’ve gotten some pretty funny comments about my Loadout cosmetics (or lack thereof) since my Loadout article went live. Some were wondering how I could justify spending $55 on in-game cosmetics, since unlike in TF2 I couldn’t possibly have prior backpack wealth to rely on. Am I one of those rich senator’s sons who can frivolously drop wads of cash like spy does in his newest taunt? Well, actually I sold almost my entire TF2 backpack to afford that birthday suit in Loadout, and I’m still selling most of what remains. So now I get to be nude in two different… [Continue Reading]

“Demoknight, Thou Shalt Not Increase Thine Turn Radius”

The balancing eyes of Valve, having recently fixed the first of two ways to increase your shield charge degree, have now gone ahead and nerfed out the ability to bypass the restriction with a controller too. This means that there is no way whatsoever to increase your turning radius beyond equipping the Ali Baba’s Wee Booties, and even then I cannot notice a difference with those things on. This has basically removed what little skill indexing Demoknight has. Many people (myself included) never saw why increased turning ability was somehow overpowered, considering you’re giving up the ludicrously powerful Sticky Launcher… [Continue Reading]

A Plea From a Broken Sword

To the Developers of Team Fortress 2 and the player fanbase. Hello. As a figurehead in the Demoknight community (Yes, that’s a thing), I have been vetted by a few other Knight enthusiasts to make an official statement on the status which is our beloved demoknight. It appears the community has gotten mixed responses from the backlash of the changes to the Chargin’ Targe turning bypass involving a joystick. Probably leaning towards positive since our methods of execution were nothing short of exploiting. For a lot of people it was a cheap way to get a kill, the next best… [Continue Reading]

A Tale of Two Communities

Lately, SPUF has gotten a bit cabin-feverish, and I can’t say I blame them. The anger seems to be directed at Valve’s repeated promises of “great stuff on the horizon!” and the actuality of the extreme drought of new content for TF2. Recently, even the throwaway crap such as blog posts, cosmetics, and localization-file-only updates have dried up. I can understand why SPUF is upset. But I disagree with how a large amount of this anger seems to be directed at Dota 2, Valve’s newest cash cow and spearhead of the MOBA genre that is clearly getting the lion’s share… [Continue Reading]
