A Thought On Improving Emissary Competition in Sea of Thieves

In Sea of Thieves, we have six emissaries that we can sail under. However, despite being warned that emissaries are a target for enemy players, there’s kinda only really been one faction that’s designed to go around and hunt other emissaries. The Reaper’s Bones reward good gold if you bring them the flags of any other emissary ship, even other Reapers. Sure, there’s now the Hourglass battles between the Servants of the Flame and the Guardians of Fortune, but raising an Athena’s Fortune or Reaper’s Bones flag is optional, and flags are very easily lost due to the guaranteed win/loss… [Continue Reading]

The Most Chaotic Hourglass Battle Ever

After a long day of doing Veil missions and working towards commendations, the members of the Barnacled Bastion realized that we had a lot of resources. Like, a lot a lot. We had so many resources that we had two storage crates pretty much filled with cannonballs, and we also had a huge amount of food and wood too. We had over a hundred mangoes and a good stack of pineapples, enough for us to all have something nice to eat. So, before ending our session, we decided to do one Hourglass battle, fighting as Guardians of Fortune. Now, I… [Continue Reading]

The Power of Sloops

When you are off sailing in the Sea of Thieves, what would you think is the best ship to use? Surely the galleon, with its impressive size and cannons, right? Or what about the brig, with its sleeker body and less levels to repair? Nope, not at all. The best ship in the Sea of Thieves is the humble sloop. By quite a lot. But why is the sloop so powerful? Oh, there are many reasons. Some of which are quite surprising. Speed and movement are everything Sloops are small ships, but they can really travel. Their smaller, sleeker bodies… [Continue Reading]

Sea of Thieves Season 8 Is the Best Update Ever

In the Sea of Thieves, there’s always been a bit of a struggle between people who want PvE and people who want PvP. In previous seasons, this has mostly been random. You can’t tell if someone wants a fight until you’re already in one. While the Battle Flag and playing as Reaper’s Bones emissaries is one way to show that you want to fight, you can’t guarantee that anyone wants to fight you back. Season 8 flips this all on its head. Finally, there is now a way to get a guaranteed fight with someone else who also wants a… [Continue Reading]

On Playing as Reapers in the Sea of Thieves

So far, while playing Sea of Thieves, we’ve mostly been doing the same few things. But we always do these things as an Emissary, earning experience for different factions. Outside of Veil missions, the Stormcloud are often representing the Reapers’ Bones, and the faction is somewhat frowned upon. Why? Because, although they spend a lot of time doing the same things as other ships, the Reapers are generally considered the PvP faction. And it turns out not everyone is a fan of the Reapers’ Bones. Or PvP in general. Reapers are easy to avoid Well, they’re super easy to avoid,… [Continue Reading]

The New PvP Game Mode – Rift

I don’t normally play PvP stuff. But Destiny 2 has the habit of putting random PvP stuff into quests. The Rat King exotic quest required players to all use the same pistol, for example. And on the second week of this new season, Lord Saladin is back (already) with objective-based gameplay for us to all fight over. However, due to paying for someone else’s fuck up, Saladin now basically works for Empress Caiatl on her War Council. And while he’s there, he’s picked up a new 6v6 game mode for us: Rift. Capture the Flag with a twist Rift is… [Continue Reading]

The One Time I Willingly Played Crucible in Destiny 2

I normally hate PvP stuff in Destiny 2. I’ve mostly only ever played it when forced to. To get the Rat King exotic sidearm, I had to play Crucible for a bit and I absolutely hated it. Just like Conclave in Warframe, I avoid Crucible like a plague. And while Gambit is technically PvPvE, the PvE side of things is miserable and the PvP makes it worse. However, as part of the Festival of the Lost event, a yearly Halloween thing, I kinda needed to play some PvP. Because, briefly, it was one of the best ways to get spectral… [Continue Reading]

Another Eevee Community Day

When I was brand new to Pokemon GO, I once accidentally took part in the first Eevee Community Day. While I didn’t find any shinies, I did manage to get a few new Pokedex entries. I never really thought though that there’d ever be a second Community Day. Well, here I am, writing about another Eevee Community Day. Just goes to show that anything can happen. However, this Community Day was different. Two Days of Eevee For some reason, this Community Day is in fact a Community Day weekend. We get two 6-hour periods in which all spawns will be… [Continue Reading]

An Updated Ramble about the GO Battle League

One of the more-viewed posts on the Daily SPUF is an article about the GO Battle League. The article was released when the GO Battle League first came out. However, the new battling feature was… pretty broken. There were lots of issues and the experience was all-round pretty bad. But that article is pretty damn old now, and things have changed with the GBL. Mostly positive changes. More leagues and options A lot more Pokemon are viable for each league now. Although not all Community Days have been amazing for the GBL, we do have a lot more options. Niantic… [Continue Reading]

Fletchling Community Day

What’s that? A community day? Already? These seem to come more and more quickly, I swear. March’s 2021 Community Day is actually kinda special. Why? Because it’s the first March Community Day since 2019, as 2020’s March Community Day was skipped. And, to celebrate, we’re getting Fletchling, the tiny, fiery sparrow thing! A Pokemon that evolves into a fan favourite, Talonflame. New shiny! Yes, we’re actually getting a brand new shiny. And one that ISN’T a Kanto Pokemon! Fletchling can now be shiny, and if you evolved it during the Community Day event, Talonflame would learn the fast move Incinerate.… [Continue Reading]
