Small, Amusing, Pointless things I want in Pokemon GO

I love Pokemon GO. It’s one of the few games I can lazily play, no matter where I am and where my phone is. All I have to do is go for a walk and catch a few Pokemon as I do so. However, there are a few little tiny things I want to see in Pokemon GO. Some serious, some… not so serious. Watch out, this is a long list… Iron Head users should bounce balls back more frequently. This idea is the idea that pushed me into making this article. Basically, if you have a buddy that knows… [Continue Reading]

5 Items I Want to See in Pokemon GO

Bag space in Pokemon GO is precious. Pokestops, Gyms, Gifts, Field Research, level-ups, and raids will quickly shower you with more items than you know what to do with, so it is not without serious pontification that I humbly suggest several items Niantic could add to Pokemon GO that would improve the game in subtle ways. 1. Master Ball: This one’s kinda a freebie for this sort of list, to be honest. It’s almost certain they’re going to add a Master Ball eventually. For those not in the know, the Master Ball is an infamous item from the main Pokemon games. You… [Continue Reading]

Payday 2: On Joker Cops

There are a couple reasons I frequently finding myself grabbing Joker skills in my Payday 2 builds; firstly, they’re under the Mastermind skill tree, which also comes with all the medic skills. The top joker skill, Hostage Taker, lets you regenerate health every five seconds if you have a converted cop. This works great with most of my favorite perk decks, especially my current love Stoic, which has phenomenal tanking potential but no innate way to regenerate the slivers of damage that will slowly wear you down throughout a heist. But even when I don’t spec all the way into… [Continue Reading]

A Syringe Gun Update

On my birthday in 2014 we published an article talking about the lack of cosmetic love for the stock shotgun. Since then, Valve’s kicked it up a notch and actually given us both a festive shotgun and Decorated shotguns, so they’ve kinda redeemed themselves. (we really still need an Australium one though.) And that means that the Syringe Gun is now the only stock weapon that goes completely unloved by Valve’s texture artists. I can kinda understand why, since it’s an underpowered and unremarkable attempt at a self-defense weapon that every Medic ignores because at least one unlock (usually the… [Continue Reading]

Cosmetics we should have had by now

There are a lot of hats in Team Fortress 2. A lot. That’s an understatement. There are so many hats that the Mann Co. catalogue is buckling underneath the weight of all the pages in it, describing every hat. Crafting your three refined can get you pretty much anything from a baseball cap to a mask to a rose on your chest to a cat in your pocket to, amazingly, nothing at all. Never really made sense that you can craft the hatless Scout, Sniper and Engineer hats. That being said, there’s always room for more hats. Well, I say… [Continue Reading]

A Heads Up

Good day everyone! I just wanted to gather everyone round so I could have a quick chat with you all. Really, I should do this more often, you know, as a community thing. First things first, I’d like to thank you all for A Week of Love and Hate. It was a success! And it was awesome seeing lots of articles written by lots of people. It really made a change. It was also nice having a week of me not having to actually write anything at all. There’s also something interesting to note: We all thought in a similar… [Continue Reading]

The Dominationing

There’s been a couple of posts on SPUF recently about Dominations and I think now is a good time to make a post about them, both as a recently dominated Medic and a Medic who got a bunch of dominations, but also as an average TF2 player and someone who sees other people getting dominated or dominating. Let’s start with a recap on how dominations work. Simply put, you get 4 kills or assists on someone without them killing or assisting in killing you, you dominate them. A notification appears on the scoreboard, showing that you have a domination and/or… [Continue Reading]

Team Fortress Classic Should Go Free-to-Play

Team Fortress Classic, the predecessor to Valve’s most successful multiplayer FPS, has had a pretty decorated history itself. Released in 1999 as a Goldsrc port of the hugely popular Quake mod Team Fortress, it came bundled for free with Half-Life which granted it a large and prospering player base for years, a player base which stayed strong until 2007, when TF2 came out. At around the same time it received a $5 price tag, and as a result the community for this game has dwindled to near nonexistence. Whenever I try to play I can only find two servers that are reliably… [Continue Reading]

Taking the Fight to the Robots

When is Valve going to add offensive MvM missions? Ever since the amazing opening trailer showed BLU and RED uniting against a common foe, I’ve been wanting to see the other half of Mann Co’s defenses getting in on the action. And I know I’m not the only one. It’s not even particularly difficult to come up with the method of gameplay. One way or another, it’ll probably involve BLU team delivering a bomb to robot factories or other tactically-beneficial targets that are guarded by robots with a slightly redder hue. Most people seem to think the bomb should be… [Continue Reading]

What if TF2 melee behaved mechanically like Left 4 Dead 2 melee?

I had a blast recently playing ctf_turbine with Medieval mode enabled, but my internet connection quickly decided that it wasn’t pleased with the current TF2 melee mechanics. So it got me thinking about a different Source game where the melee weapons are among my favorite in the entire game. TF2 melee basically behaves like a hitscan “bullet” that flies a few inches in front of the player and stops (the swords fire this “bullet” a bit further, mimicking a range bonus.) Only if this “bullet” hits an enemy is your melee swing successful. This is where all the notorious hitreg… [Continue Reading]
