On Writing Over 2000 Articles – Medic’s 2000th article

Writing articles is interesting. With a story, you can normally do what you like, and everything has a chronological order. Articles on the other hand aren’t always as chronological. Non-fiction stuff requires research and sources, and opinion pieces tend to need backing up in some way. Writing in general is somewhat like a magical path, with lots of potential ways to go. But writing is also pretty difficult. Taking the words in your head and putting them on paper can be a chore. And when it comes to writing consistently, it’s easy to get dissuaded and upset if you can’t… [Continue Reading]

A Brief History of the Daily SPUF

Wow, we’ve hit 3,000 articles! I’m honestly blown away by how many people have decided to join us on what began as a simple repository for memorable SPUF threads. At this point, most of our readers have never even visited the original Steam Powered User Forums, which is a crazy thing to think. So since the majority of our readerbase wasn’t there for the early days, I thought I could join the congo-line of celebratory articles by chronicling the many iterations and events that the SPUFblog has experienced through the years. This blog was originally born due to a discussion… [Continue Reading]

The 3000th Article

Wow. This is the 3000th article. That’s a pretty big number. Sure, in the grand scheme of things, 3000 isn’t that many. For a video game blog, written in our spare time? Yeah, that feels like a massive number. Congratulations to us, for reaching our 3000th article. Things have been tough though. 2020 alone was a massive shit show, and there were definitely a few times here and there where I didn’t think I’d get an article scheduled on time. We still managed it though. No matter what happened over all these years (and a lot of things have happened),… [Continue Reading]

One Thousand and Six Hundred Posts – A Look Back

Happy 1600 articles! As a long-time lurker, I have been reading The Daily SPUF for at least three years by now. Now that we’re at a milestone, I thought it will be nice to look back and talk about some of the articles I enjoyed. And no, I’m not going to go over all 1593 articles because there is no way I can write a kilometer-long article by the time the 1599th article get published. And now, in no particular order: Posts about unused game content are always fascinating to read, because it shows the different directions the game devs explored,… [Continue Reading]

Daedra and Artifacts – Medic in Skyrim Bonus Time Part 2

Oh? Sorry, were you talking to me? I was busy talking to a statue. Last time you were here, I had started a quest to gather a bunch of Deitic artifacts, because secretly I am a very evil person. I’m being accompanied by Cicero, the guy whose cart breaks down outside some guy’s farm outside Whiterun. Just an FYI before we start, there ARE Skyrim spoilers ahead. Of course. Although the game is like 4 years old now, so eh, you should probably play it. Anyway, back to adventuring. A statue of an angel just spoke to me. I think… [Continue Reading]

Sometimes simple is nicer

I own an unusual hat. It’s a bubbling Team Captain, which I can wear for my three most played classes: Medic, Soldier, Heavy. Out of all those classes though, only one of them wears the hat all the time, my fancily dressed Heavy. Neither Medic nor Soldier wear their unusual hats all the time. They wear other stuff though. What cosmetics? I forget. I’ve gone through various styles over the years. As Medic coats became more common cosmetics, I went through a phase of picking a coat to match whatever map I was playing on. Normal coat for places like… [Continue Reading]

Burning Skies – How to make the most out of tearing Skyrim a new one

I have done bad things to Skyrim. Very bad things. All with mods. I have turned everyone in Skyrim into both Argonians and Khajiits. I have brought armies of undead back to life. I have installed mods to get rid of the most horrible underwear ever and replace it with, well, nudity. For women and men, because I believe in equality. I have led armies of monsters against those racist Nords in Windhelm. I brought Miraak back from the dead, copied his attire and went around spraying tentacles at everyone. I’ve also gone around finding every male Argonian in Skyrim,… [Continue Reading]

Holy shit this is the 800th article.

Bloody hell. The time has flown! Seriously it feels like a few weeks ago that we celebrated our 700th article. And I spent most of that article writing about how much I love you all and how I can’t live without you all and all that sort of stuff. I guess I kinda have to do the same for this article, but eh… Thing is, lately, it’s been pretty rough for both me and aabicus. Dear old Aaby has had spouse-based health issues, job-issues and house issues, while I’ve been taking on all the responsibility of running the family… [Continue Reading]

Three Hundred Articles of Spufiness

This is my 300th published article on this blog. Or about that, I’m not 100% sure, I just know that I’ve got approximately 300 articles published. Considering that we’re nearing 800 articles (I KNOW, RIGHT?), that’s pretty impressive. Of course, aabicus has written a lot of articles too, but he had a head start by, you know, creating this blog. Then again, I just checked and he’s for 224 articles total. That’s over 500 articles about Team Fortress 2 and other related video games. Written by two people in their free time. Then another 200 or so articles written by… [Continue Reading]
