I’m sure some of you have read the Binding of Medic, or maybe played The Binding of Isaac (a very good game, you know) or maybe both. I’m also sure that you’d agree that the Binding of Medic is a fun, amusing way to pass your time on SPUF. In today’s article, we’ll be discussing how I thought up the crazy idea, ways to do your own silly game, a few fun facts and some other bits and pieces.

As you can tell, with a name like Medic, I am a keen role-player. I’ve just had really bad luck when it comes to role-playing. I’ve always liked Choose Your Own Story games, but apart from SPUF and my own forums, I’ve never been able to get them running smoothly. Role-playing is another option, but starting Team Fortress 2 role-plays that don’t descend into “Heavy Loves Medic” or get past the more-than-one-person-participating mark is nigh impossible. It seems that, outside the Team Fortress community, few people care.

So when I started the Binding of Medic (which I didn’t originally name, someone mentioned it in an early post), I didn’t expect to make it past page 2. The last Choose Your Own Story I did didn’t even make it past 6 posts before being derailed. What started off as a fire in Teufort turned into a dedicated story, with some people trying to kill me but most people making good decisions and keeping me alive. Unfortunately, moron that I am, I lost my story outline, so the original Binding of Medic slowed down.

Then October started. Halloween was on the way. I decided to start a new story. This time, I decided to wing it, deciding the plot as I went along. The Binding of Medic – Halloween Edition (although someone suggested Wrath of the Spam, which is brilliant) features zombies, Merasmus and all sorts of amusing silliness. Those with a good memory and a keen eye may have noticed that the BLU Medic from the original has made a reappearance, signalling that things went well in the original.

As an intermission, here are a few fun facts. Almost everything in The Binding Of Medic is part of my imagination. The dragon that we met on Skull Island? He’s an original character of mine, who’s best friends with my character Phovos. The toys mentioned when we met Jack? Yes, I am a big Bionicle fan, and the chosen toy, a Bohrok, just happens to be my most favourite Bionicle of all. All the Zombie Scouts? Scout is my least favourite class, so I like killing them. The randomly teleporting Pyro? That happened to an original character of mine called Teekay. Teekay got over it. Pyro did too. There’s other little things in there too that people may have noticed.

But what happens after this current edition? Well, I’ve got plans. There WILL be a Christmas Edition (Heart of Coal) and I’m planning on two new stories, the Binding of *insert other class here*, and the Binding of SPUF, which will feature SPUF Members maybe, depending on who’s up for it.

As a final bit of fun, that image up top? I’m working on one for each class, in both team colours. You’ll be able to download them on SPUF when I’m done.
