Let’s fix two weapons at once!
Last night, I had a genius idea. I worked out how we could fix not one, but two weapons at once, and you wouldn’t even need to do much work. Yes, folks, I believe I may have the answer to our Quick Fix and Vaccinator worries! Maybe. Possibly. Okay, probably not, but oh well.
The problem here is two-fold. The Quick Fix is slightly too powerful and the Vaccinator is slightly too weak. The Vaccinator’s niche is so small you might as well use stock, but the Quick Fix can be used pretty much anywhere as long as you’re defending. It can be used to attack too if you want. The Quick Fix though, for a weapon that’s supposed to advocate healing people and then telling them to get lost, it’s got some really nice mechanics that scream “POCKET PEOPLE!” at whoever uses it. Yeah, I’m talking about the mirror jumping and the speed boosts.
The thing is, the Quick-Fix doesn’t need the mirror-jumping-speed-boost any more. It works fine. Medics get the Megaheal when not Ubering a patient, it has overheal, it works fine. It works so well that coordinated teams will screw over anyone because the team’s Medic can just shout “jump away!” and he’ll be propelled to safety. So much for a non-pocking Medi Gun, like everyone who used to defend it used to say it was.
The Vaccinator on the other hand is best used for 2v1 or 2v2 situations, where most of the incoming damage is of the same type. Since you can’t share resistances, it forces you to pocket. But the Uber (a Geofflette) is so mediocre, you could use any other Medi Gun, not Uber and still come out on top.
What’s my solution to all this? Simple. Take away the mirror-jumping gimmick from the Quick Fix and give it to the Vaccinator. What does this solve? It solves the way the Quick Fix makes it far too easy for Medics to escape when they screw up, while reinforcing the pocketing aspect of the Vaccinator. To clarify, the Quick Fix would also lose the speed boost from healing people faster than you. The Vaccinator gets all of this.
It’s a really simple idea, but I really think it could work. It’ll probably never happen though.
