The Amazon Prime/Twitch Prime Trial is really damn hard to get

Editor’s note: The Twitch Prime offer has been extended multiple times. Unfortunately the extra Frost Prime didn’t make it, he got sold to make room for Nidus. Turned out forma’ing the aura slot wasn’t as good as I expected it to be. There is currently a second offer, giving you a free Soma Prime and Scindo Prime. Also this article is somewhat out of date as Twitch and Amazon have streamlined the free trial process, it now works much better.

Editor’s second note: This offer is no longer available. Sorry about that. But luckily there’s some free weapon codes floating about, available in this article.

So there’s some nice Twitch Prime deals right now, accessible via the 7 day Twitch Prime trial. You can get Overwatch loot boxes, loot for various other games and, the thing I am interested in, a neat Warframe deal. Get Twitch Prime or the trial between June 29th and July 8th and you get a free entire Frost Prime and a fancy syandana to go with it. That’s something I want. Okay, I already have a Frost Prime, but a build I want to use on him requires forma-ing his Aura slot and I don’t want to do that on my current Frost Prime because then I can’t use Steel Charge.

Image clearly borrowed from the Twitch Prime homepage. It's nice but I'd rather just see all of this than a video that autoplays after a year of streaming.

So I did what any normal human being would do and I went to sign up for the Amazon Prime Video trial, which also gets you a 7 day Twitch Prime trial. I signed up for Prime Video and that went fine, 7 day free trial and all. I had to then connect Prime Video to Twitch to get Twitch Prime.

Twitch Prime ain't working, boys!
Shit.

The Click Here for Help thing doesn’t really help. It just gives generic information.

After several more tries, I decided to contact support.

The good thing is that they’ve been pretty fast with their support. Chat support has been very speedy, and email support has been okay up until the point that I could no longer reply to emails.

Chat support though were great. I’ve been on a short fuse as of late but somehow I managed to keep my cool. Well, mostly. But I didn’t freak out at Chat support. They don’t deserve it and probably only get paid minimum wage anyway. Pro tip to anyone who decides to contact support, they reply quicker if you say please.

But we ended up going round in circles, cancelling and restarting various trials and all sorts. Nothing seemed to work. Suggestions involved getting Prime Video from Amazon Prime, NOT getting Prime Video from Amazon Prime, restarting the Prime Video trial, messing around with Amazon.co.uk, using alternate payment methods (luckily I have two debit cards) and some other bits and pieces.

So many emails.
So many emails.

Nothing worked.

And I was kinda getting annoyed. Really, signing up for this stuff shouldn’t be hard.

All I want is my free Frost Prime and syandana. That’s all I fucking want. Well, actually I did want to genuinely try Twitch Prime. Adverts on normal Twitch fucking suck (you can’t close them half the time) and there’s a handful of streamers I genuinely like (hence why I sometimes leave ads on for them). Heck, if I found that Twitch Prime was actually alright, I might have subscribed. But that was assuming that I’d be able to even do so. At the rate I was going, round and round in circles, I’d never actually see Twitch Prime.

Until both the people on Prime Video Chat Support and I realised the problem might have been Firefox. I tried Microsoft Edge and after the bastard loaded, I finally got my Twitch Prime trial after all.

So if you’re stuck with this problem, here’s what to do:

  • Use Microsoft Edge, as boring as it is. Firefox is a bastard in this case. Chrome is always a bastard. Don’t use it.
  • Don’t get the Amazon Prime 30 day trial.
  • Get Prime Video from primevideo.com, NOT from the Amazon website.
  • Stick to one specific form of Amazon. Don’t mix your .com with your .co.uk.
  • Check your card information. About ten times.
  • Make sure to check when the subscription ends so you can cancel it when you’re not happy. Prime Video is currently $2.99 a month but will increase to $5.99 in January.
  • If you have problems, contact Prime Video support and they’ll sort it out.

Hopefully this will work for you.

Unrelated, Twitch, stop autoplaying videos on your damn home page.

As for me actually subscribing and whether it’s worth the hassle? I don’t know yet. I need to try this stuff out.

Are you using Chrome or Firefox or any ad blockers? They seem to interfere with the connection between Amazon Prime Video and Twitch. If you already have the Prime Trial but you don’t have the stuff in Warframe, try going to Warframe.com, logging in and removing then re-doing the connection to your Twitch account.
