You don’t realise how much you miss someone or something until it’s gone. Alternatively, you don’t notice how annoying  something can be until it suddenly hits you. Like cooldowns in video games. You know what I mean. You’ve got this awesome power, you want to use it. You save it up for the perfect moment. You use it. Now you’ve got to wait until you use it again. How long that is depends on the ability and the game. For example, the cooldown on Unrelenting Force, everyone’s… [Continue Reading]

Modding the Awkward Way Mon, 15 Jan 2018 10:15:24 +0000 Lately, I’ve been playing Warframe with my brother Smeghead. I introduced him to the game in April last year, and he’s really enjoyed it, having reached Mastery Rank 21 with ease. His favourite character is Rhino, and his glorious Rubedo-plated Rhino Prime is his most used frame, complete with several Forma and all the maxed mods. Meanwhile, my beloved Volt Prime still does not have a single Forma embedded in him. You see, Smeghead mods like a normal person. He fully upgrades his mods. If a Warframe or weapon doesn’t have enough room for a mod, then he sticks a… [Continue Reading]

On Stealth Warframes Sun, 14 Jan 2018 10:14:28 +0000 So I had to play Loki the other day. I was farming the Plague Star mission with a group and they requested that I go Loki to help speed things up. By speed things up, they mean by using Switch Teleport to get the drone moving faster. Honestly I think I actually made the mission take longer, because multiple times I accidentally Switch Teleported team mates instead of the drone. Mostly my fault, but they WERE standing right next to the bastard. Still, it got me thinking about things. Mostly about stealth. Stealth in Warframe is pretty hard to obtain… [Continue Reading]

Combat Engineer, Part 2 Sat, 13 Jan 2018 10:13:21 +0000 Playing Combat Engineer is essentially a giant balancing act for me. I still have a Dispenser and a Teleporter Exit to take care of, but I need to juggle my combat role as an anti-flank and a harasser as well. I need to apply pressure on the enemy team, make a few picks against stragglers and lone-wolf flankers, and hold off a choke or a key area. At the same time, I need to make sure that the Teleporters are up so that my teammates can get to the point quickly, and my Dispenser is able to provide resources for… [Continue Reading]

Combat Engineer, Part 1 Fri, 12 Jan 2018 08:12:20 +0000 I never like playing classic Engineer. I mean, if I need to defend last and I get to set up properly, I’ll take out the Jag and start building my Level 3 Sentry Nest, but I much rather play anything else except Sniper. On Offense or just whenever I can get away with it however, I love playing as a Combat Engineer with the Gunslinger. I know it’s possible to run a Level 1 Sentry with a rather offensive playstyle, but I personally like using the Mini Sentry since I really like the quick deploy. Being able to rapidly slam… [Continue Reading]

Aurora Trail Thu, 11 Jan 2018 08:11:14 +0000 This game surprised me when I first saw it. I was snooping around to see if something interesting popped out, and Aurora Trail leaped up to me with its unique puzzle mechanic. In this game, you solve puzzles using your camera. If the background’s colour matches the colour of the body part that was before it, the body part will get vapourized. Thus, if you want to move around without literally losing your head, you need to make sure that you don’t put your head in front of anything glowing green. In the seven levels available, the camera is both… [Continue Reading]

Health VS Shields – What’s the Better Choice in Warframe? Wed, 10 Jan 2018 08:10:14 +0000 In Warframe, you have both health and shields. This is common in a lot of games, but not every game allows you to increase one or the other or both as you please. But not everyone has the capacity to slap a fully leveled health or shields mod on their Warframe. Maybe your Warframe hasn’t reached level 30 yet? Or maybe you don’t have any aura mods or means to increase capacity? Or maybe you simply don’t have room for both mods and have to pick one or the other? So which one do you choose? That’s what I hope… [Continue Reading]

A First Night on the Plains Tue, 09 Jan 2018 08:09:43 +0000 Volt seemed uncertain as the heavy Orokin doors slammed shut behind him. This was his second time out on the plains. The last time he had been here, it was day time, and he lacked the proper tools to not only fight the swarms of Grineer roaming around, but he lacked the ability to gather other resources, such as ores and gems. He wasn’t going to make that same mistake twice. Volt also planned on not making another mistake twice. Today, he was here on the Plains on his own. No more waiting for Rhino to kill everything. No more… [Continue Reading]

Mark of the Ninja Mon, 08 Jan 2018 08:08:18 +0000 I mentioned this game in my article on Gunpoint, saying that it’s a more subtle affair than its door-kicking, fedora-wearing cousin. After all, you’re a ninja, not some graceless dolt who tried out his new jumping trousers by launching himself head-first out of his apartment window like a suicidal Goomba. Grace, stealth and finesse are to be expected. In Mark of the Ninja, you play as the Marked Ninja, also known as the Champion. You are accompanied by Ora, a female ninja assassin, whose voice provides guidance and information as you roam among the shadows. As the Marked Ninja, you… [Continue Reading]

Ideas To Spice Up Missions Sun, 07 Jan 2018 08:07:01 +0000 The Acolyte event in Warframe has ended, and the Ghouls event is slowly ending too. The basic gist of it was that the Acolytes, a bunch of edgy friends of the Stalker (last seen in the Second Dream), are roaming around and need to be killed. Each one would hide on a node somewhere on the star chart until someone stumbles across them in a mission, which helps pinpoint the Acolyte’s location. Once they’re found, people can do the mission and search the map to lure an Acolyte out of the shadows, fight them, defeat them and get some rare… [Continue Reading]
