The Pokemon I Hate Catching in Pokemon GO

Every Pokemon in Pokemon GO has a different hitbox. If you want to be able to get Excellent throws all the time, then you need both patience and the chance to catch these Pokemon. But some Pokemon are really damn annoying to catch. Here are the ones I hate catching the most.

Trubbish

Trubbish does two annoying things. Firstly, it’s a pain in the ass to actually catch, often requiring an ultra ball and/or berry. Secondly, it’s kinda far away, and it has a funky hitbox, where Pokeballs will hit it but just bounce off the floor. But the thing is, Trubbish is worth catching, because it gives you 750 stardust for doing so. Honestly most of the more-than-average-stardust Pokemon are a pain in the ass to catch as well. Audino will easily break out of excellent throws and Morelull has the same weird hitbox Trubbish has. I put this down to these Pokemon being harder to catch because of the extra stardust they give.

Kyogre

You’d think that a massive, blue whale creature would be somewhat easy to land excellent throws on. But you’d be wrong. Kyogre is a large Pokemon, but it compensates for that by being really far away from the camera, and attacking constantly. It also drifts from side to side, and will stay there for a really long time. Because of its size, it can also kinda end up half way off the screen, making throws even harder.

But Kyogre used to be worse. A lot worse. He used to be even further away from the camera, AS WELL as constantly moving back and forth. Honourable mention to Altered Form Giratina who used to be about a mile away from the camera as well, until they released his shiny.

Shadow Lugia and Ho-Oh

Again, these are massive Pokemon. But they do the opposite of what Kyogre does. They are perhaps too close to the camera, taking up too much space. This kinda means that you don’t have much room to throw the ball. Excellent throws are kinda doable but are harder than they feel they should be. However, as Shadow Pokemon, these guys are the worst. They attack constantly. But at the same time, their attacks are so constant that the only chance you have to hit them is while they are moving up or down. You can also somewhat time a throw in the middle of an attack, but the timing is tricky, and it’s hard to aim for an excellent throw because of all the attacks.

Pikachu

Now, I can land excellent throws on a Pikachu pretty easily. After all, I’ve caught over a thousand of the bastards, and have the medal to prove it. But Pikachu is still a pain in the ass to catch. It’s a very jumpy Pokemon and seems to attack more than it should. But at the same time, its catch rate is really low. Considering it’s the game’s mascot, the fact that it is so hard to catch is kinda weird. Even low CP ones will easily break out of excellent throws. Luckily, I don’t need to catch any of them any more.

Scatterbug, Weedle, Caterpie, Joltik

These Pokemon are all very small. That’s pretty much it. Joltik in particular is one of the smallest Pokemon in the game. But landing an excellent throw on them IS possible. I’ve done it, a grand total of once. Caterpie sorta sits in the middle, but is oddly close to the screen. The same applies to Weedle, but it is a tad too close, and the circle for an excellent throw for it is tiny. But Scatterbug, which is about the same size as those two, and definitely bigger than Joltik, is somehow harder to hit an excellent throw on. Its hitbox is annoyingly low to the ground, similar to Joltik, meaning that half the area of where you can actually hit an excellent throw is also technically on the floor. This forces you to have to throw a bit higher than necessary.

Still, small Pokemon are ALWAYS a pain to catch.

The Spirits of the Lake

These guys are the worst. They combine pretty much everything that’s wrong on this list and put it on a single (well, technically three) Pokemon. Each Spirit of the Lake is small, annoyingly close to the screen and moves around CONSTANTLY. And, to make matters worse, these guys are regional, meaning you NEED to be invited to a raid in order to catch the two that aren’t in your region. Good luck with that. I really hope these guys don’t end up as Shadow Pokemon, because they’d be impossible to catch.

There are other, just as annoying Pokemon. For example, Glameow used to be impossible to get an Excellent Throw on thanks to its broken hitbox. But these guys are all at the top of the list when it comes to being annoying.
