Do you remember your first life?

Medic: My first life in Team Fortress 2 was insanely dull. After spending a tad too long working out how to use the server browser, I found myself in a PL_Goldrush server. It wasn’t anything special, just 23 other people fighting over a damn stationary cart. I decided to start off with Scout, as he was the first class going left to right. So logic dictated that I picked him first. BLU were most of the way through the map. I spawned and switched through all of my weapons, deciding to keep my scattergun out since it was the biggest… [Continue Reading]

Design a weapon for TF2! (part two!)

I asked this question before, but there were only three staff members then. No reusing weapon concepts, you three! ———————————— John Caveson: A modified 1903 Springfield rifle for Soldier that’s a replacement for the shotty and basically a sniper rifle that can only no-scope. It would probably do around a 40-50 damage pershot. It will give Soldier better long-range capabilities while sacrificing the meatshoting and spread capabilities of the shotgun for close range protection. aabicus: You know what I’ve always wanted to see? A Medigun that kept the invulnerability Uber and tampered with the other stats instead. Just because the Kritzkrieg… [Continue Reading]

2 Kill 2 Mockingbirds

Harper Lee is publishing a sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird! You know, that book you read in high school along with stuff from Charles Dickens, William Shakespeare and a bunch of other dead writers? The fact that the author is still alive is as much a surprise as the announcement that she’s publishing her second book ever. Go Set a Watchmen has something of a legacy to live up to, what with its prequel winning every literary prize known to mankind, and earning its author numerous honorary degrees, the National Medal of Arts and a Presidential Medal of Freedom for her contribution to… [Continue Reading]

What’s your favorite TF2 bug/glitch?

Medic: Ooooh goody! Haven’t had one of these for a while! Once, after an update, there was this weird glitch where all sounds were no longer working properly and you could walk through some props but not others. It was really weird. Didn’t last long, it was fixed within an hour. Another funny glitch which I have only ever managed to do once is the Spectator Crossbow glitch, where switching to spectator after firing an arrow will make the arrow neutral and hurt anyone, regardless of team. It needed some really good timing to pull off though. Or a couple… [Continue Reading]

What is your favorite thread in all of SPUF’s history?

Medic: See, that’s the thing, I have a crap memory and I can never remember the name of threads that I really enjoyed. The itsurblog threads have always vastly entertained me but quite often, I’ll only catch the tail end of fantastic threads. I suppose the Uprising thread in the Medic subforum has always amused me. It’s good to see a bunch of Medics all working together for a common cause rather than arguing over the Quick Fix. aabicus: Oh man, I’ve got some. Most of them are name-dropped in this thread or that one, but one that isn’t is… [Continue Reading]

What’s your most sentimental item?

When it comes to playing the hat game, I take no shame in admitting that I’ve done a lot with it during my time playing Team Fortress 2. My backpack has become a mess of weapons and cosmetic items to help emphasize my vanity. Despite being a hoarder, I can safely say that I wouldn’t be heartbroken to see most of my collection go… with a few choice exceptions. I speak, of course, about the items with sentimental value; market value is easily displaced by the items that have some sort of meaning to the individual, and that meaning can… [Continue Reading]

Why do you do this blog?

Not being mean. Just want to know why do you do this blog? What made you start? What keeps you going? Question directed at entire Daily SPUF “staff” and regulars. Medic: I have no idea! No, seriously, I don’t. Aabicus just asked me if I wanted to write stuff, I said yes and it all went up/downhill from there. Now I’m technically in charge of this, although neither of us seem to know who’s the editor and who’s the editor in chief and who’s the person making the tea and coffee. Aabicus says it’s me but I don’t believe him.… [Continue Reading]

What’s your spray?

Medic: I always forget I have a spray. The only time I see it is when I accidentally press T instead of R when trying to reload my weapon. Unfortunately, the klutz that I am, I do this rather regularly. Actually, that’s not true, I use auto-reload on most classes and I don’t play Spy enough to warrant adding that auto-reload script to his cfg file. Most of my sprays are old ones and none of them are very good, apart from the Sniper dot spray I once downloaded. My current spray is equally lame and depressing. It’s left over… [Continue Reading]

Helvetica Standard or: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Watch Moe Anime

SPUF’s resident maidsassin Corvette is throwing a huge 10000-post giveaway! Some amazing contributions have rolled through, as SPUFers prove just what they’re willing to do to get free stuff. Well, it turns out I’m willing to watch 3 episodes of Nichijou, which Wikipedia describes as a “Comedy Slice of Life Manga”, but my friends were quick to correct me that manga is the comics and anime is the show. The fact that I didn’t know that should be an indication as to just how green I am in this field. But that Genuine Pip-Boy might as well be a Klondike… [Continue Reading]
