Cheating in Sea of Thieves

If you have a multiplayer game, then you’ll stumble across cheaters. And, it turns out, Sea of Thieves has pretty much no anti-cheat system what so ever. Sure, Rare have said that they’re developing an anti-cheat system, but they’ve been saying that for a while. In the mean time, all you can really do is record other players that you suspect of cheating, then send videos to Rare for them to inspect. While having no anti-cheat in a sandbox game wouldn’t be too bad, there’s a whole PvP game mode (hourglass battles), PvP is encouraged in general, and there’s also… [Continue Reading]

The Timeless Travels Research Was Okay I Guess

With recent seasons, we’ve had seasonal research to go alongside them, and this season has been no different. Timeless Travels is a 14 stage special research that somewhat follows along with the season, with a handful of gaps in between. Was it worth it? Kinda. Unfortunately, Timeless Travels didn’t start off well. While catching 15 different species of Pokemon isn’t too hard, and step 1 does reward 3 charge and fast TMs, step two jumps straight into everyone’s favourite sort of task. And by favourite, I mean least favourite. While the “do X 7 days in a row” task these… [Continue Reading]

The Terror That Is Shadow Kyogre

Generally, Team Rocket bosses are pretty easy. Even with this season’s Team Rocket grunts having way more Pokemon than they used to, as long as you have Pokemon that counter their types, most Grunts are easily defeated. There’s even a new feature where the game will show you what types are super effective against whatever grunt it is you are trying to fight. Heck, for most grunts, you can just take a Pokemon with a spammy move like Lucario with Power Up Punch or Melmetal with Rock Slide and just spam charge attacks while the enemy can’t fight back. Team… [Continue Reading]

On Maining The Most-Used Warframe

With 2023’s Warframe stats coming out during the last Dev Stream, it turns out, when you combine Primed Warframes and normal Warframes, Volt is the most-used Warframe. The stats can be seen here, and show Warframe usage based on all Mastery Ranks and over different ranks. At 7% usage (4% for Volt Prime and 3% for normal Volt), Volt edges out the starter frame and poster boy Excalibur, in spite of the fact that you get Excalibur Umbra at max rank for doing a rather simple story quest. At the same time, when looking at individual frames, there are only… [Continue Reading]

Chansey Community Day

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to Chansey Community Day. I already had a bunch of shiny Chansey, Blissey’s shiny is the worst and since my egg space is full of 10 and 12km eggs, I didn’t expect to get a shiny Happiny (and I didn’t). Out of all the Pokemon we could have had for a Community Day, Chansey was so low down the list that I would have preferred Pikachu again. I get that maybe Niantic wanted something pink for February, to go with the Valentines Day event that they always do, but not only is Valentines… [Continue Reading]

The Problem With Dragon Events in Pokemon GO

So coming up this week is a Lunar New Year event in Pokemon GO. This year, 2024, is the year of the dragon. And, like every year, Pokemon GO has set up an event where the zodiac animal of choice is the one that’s spawning. Except, well, this year, we’re getting a lot of, well, not dragons. Actually, that being said, there are at least three dragons spawning in this event. Dratini ALWAYS seems to spawn in dragon events, but we’re also getting Noibat and Jangmo-o. The other Pokemon though, which will almost certainly be more common, are Magikarp, Shuckle,… [Continue Reading]

Stupidly Hard To Get Pokemon That Are Also Kinda Useless in Pokemon GO

There are a lot of rare Pokemon in Pokemon GO, but just because something is rare, that doesn’t mean it’s good. Here are some stupidly rare, hard to get Pokemon that just aren’t worth the effort. Salazzle I really like Salazzle. It was what carried me in Pokemon Shield, and I have one on my team in Pokemon Violet as well. It’s actually not the easiest Pokemon to obtain in general though, because you need to get a female Salandit to evolve it into a Salazzle, and only 12.5% of Salandit are female. In Pokemon GO, this is even harder… [Continue Reading]

On Writing About Shapeshifters

Shapeshifting is probably one of the most overpowered super powers. You can be pretty much anyone, do pretty much anything and also access a wide array of other powers, based on how that shapeshifting works. That being said, I don’t see shapeshifting much in video games. Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any popular games where you play as some kind of shapeshifter. The one exception for this is various classes in games like World of Warcraft, but even then, the shapeshifting is limited. Despite that, there is one place where I’ve seen lots of shapeshifting,… [Continue Reading]

Good Luck Getting Dusk Form Rockruff

Did you know that you can now get Dusk Form Rockruff? No? Well it was released rather unceremoniously during an event which kinda had nothing to do with Rockruff. All the event spawns didn’t seem to fit. Like, why was Gastly spawning, and why was it the only Pokemon that seemed to be spawning in obvious numbers? In reality, the event was an egg-hatching event, but without any sort of discount on incubators or a reduced hatching distance. Dusk Form Rockruff was introduced kinda at a whim. It had a chance to appear in event eggs, event research and raids,… [Continue Reading]
