Good Riddance 2016

This year has been shit. Really, utterly shit.

Last year, naive little me made a promise. Well, several. I would try and lose some weight, I would write 500 words a day and I would be more optimistic, wishing that 2016 would be a better year. As I write this post, one of my last 500 words before 2017, I will openly admit that I totally and utterly wrong. Both on a global level and on a personal level. Oh and I totally and utterly broke my promise of being more optimistic.

I’m not going to go and list all the this that have happened. There are bigger and better places for that.

Thing is, I don’t expect 2017 to be better. I expect it to be worse. One reason being that the most powerful country on the planet, the self-proclaimed “leader of the free world” is falling under nationalism, with a strong whiff of facism, having voted in a mediocre TV showman as president. Here at home, I am struggling with the voices in my head as well as the fact that I need to magically earn double the amount of money I am already making, to pay my parents’ debts because they can’t do so themselves. Right now, I am wearily writing as many articles on my phone as possible, because come January 3rd, I will no longer have the free time to write articles daily. The unfortunate side effect to this is that, apart from one series scheduled for April, the Phoviverse will not be receiving new posts on a regular basis. I’d be writing on my laptop but I’ve just been banned from charging it, and like the idiot I am, rather than using the last of my battery to make a unique picture for this article, I used it to farm relics in Warframe.

Enough of my whinging though. My life may be going down the shitter, doesn’t mean you all have to listen to me whining. You guys deserve better. Despite next year, there will still be a new article every day, with a minimum of 500 words. And hopefully with a few pictures as well. I’ve kept this up for two years now, I’m not going to stop. Plus we have that 2000 articles mark to hit.

There’s positives as well. This year has been pretty damn good for gaming, outside of Team Fortress 2 and No Man’s Sky. Sorry, suckers who preordered that. But we’ve had games like Overwatch and Pokemon GO, which have both been a breath of fresh air. You definitely can’t say 2016 has been a bad year for gamers.

On top of that, Blog.Spuf.Info is now alive again, and when I get the chance, I’ll add links to our new articles there, as to properly direct traffic to SPUF.org. Hopefully, we will get a small burst of traffic that we originally lost when the original site died.

It all looks pretty horrible right now. It’s pissing it down outside, it’s cold, Colin is being dumb, the cats are being cunts, the parents are still freaking out and the only appliances I am allowed to have on right now are the fridge and freezer. But maybe the sun will come out a little and we’ll have a little rainbow. Something good has to happen at some point, right?

I bloody well hope so.

I hope you all have a better 2017. Good riddance, 2016.

Medic, also known as Phovos (or occasionally Dr Retvik Von Scribblesalot), writes 50% of all the articles on the Daily SPUF since she doesn't have anything better to do. A dedicated Medic main in Team Fortress 2 and an avid speedster in Warframe, Phovos has the unique skill of writing 500 words about very little in a very short space of time.
