The Very Sudden Reappearance of Primed Chamber

A long time ago, back in the distant past of Warframe, there was a mod called Primed Chamber. It is a simple mod. If you install this mod on your sniper rifle, the first shot does up to 100% extra damage. But Primed Chamber, for the longest of times, was a prized reward. Why?

Because no one owned Primed Chamber.

Well, I say no one. I mean very few people.

Originally, only 100 copies of the mod existed. The mod was given out during an event called the Spy Drone Extermination Event. All you had to do was shoot Grineer spy drones, the ones you find across Earth and Mars and are reused in missions in the Plains of Eidolon. But it was only given out to the top 100 players and no one else. Players were told that the mod would reappear, but no one knew when.

But Primed Chamber did reappear a few times. At one point, it could be transmuted, by melding mods into each other. But the chance of you actually transmuting Primed Chamber was very small and even then, Primed Chamber was removed from the transmutation pool not long afterwards. Most of the time, Primed Chamber was touted as a prize during a giveaway. It was a reward in various contests and streams. The last time it was given out was in January of 2019, during a Warframe Partner stream.

It never came out in large numbers though. Primed Chamber was just a meme, really. The ultra rare holy grail mod. A grand prize to be given away during events and developer streams.

Because of this, Primed Chamber remained elusive for a long time.

Platinum-wise, this mod was worth a small fortune, with people easily playing 10,000 Platinum for this almost nonexistent mod.

Now, all of a sudden, Baro Ki’Teer brings the mod back on his Valentines Day appearance of 2020. For the cost of 1 million credits and 2995 Ducats, you can get your very own Primed Chamber and use it yourself. Sure, that looks like a lot of ducats and credits, but that’s only 1 sixth of a Railjack. Or, to put it another way, that’s less than 3 Paracesis great swords.

But what of the mod itself?

Frankly, it’s not that useful. Primed Chamber has one niche, and that’s extra damage on the first slot. Which only applies to sniper rifles. And that means that the only weapons you’ll really ever use it on are the Vectis and the Vectis Prime. Sure, the damage is multiplicative, but this still only applies on the first shot of a sniper rifle.

Not only that, but a non-rare variant, Charged Chamber, exists. Charged Chamber is far weaker and more expensive to fit into a weapon, but it’s easily found and cheaper to upgrade.

But even then, you probably won’t have room for Charged Chamber OR Primed Chamber. Because you need to fit on so many mods by default. Base damage, multishot, critical chance, critical damage and your elemental mods are all vital on sniper rifles anyway, so where can you even use Primed Chamber?

Still, this was all a massive surprise, and frankly, I like being surprised. Even if it cost me 2 million credits and 6000 ducats to buy two of this stupid mod.
