5 Weird and Rare Things in my Team Fortress 2 Inventory

It’s been ages since I last looked at my Team Fortress 2 inventory. But I was spurred into having a look again after doing a commission for a friend. They wanted to pay in TF2 keys. Sounds strange, but it’s more fun than paying via Paypal or whatever. Either way, I was reminded of all the weird stuff I have in my backpack.

Turns out, I have a LOT of weird stuff.

An un-craftable Vita-Saw

We’re going to start off cheap here. At first glance, an un-craftable Vita-Saw doesn’t seem that interesting. However, most un-craftable weapons are technically unique, because they only come from buying weapons in the Mann CO store. The Vita-Saw though, for copyright reasons (it looks like something from Bioshock, a game not owned by Valve) can’t be bought in the store for real money. So how comes I have an un-craftable Vita-Saw? I have no idea, but I do recall paying 2 keys for it, back when keys didn’t cost hundreds of refined metal.

Not that I actually ever use it. While the Vita-Saw may have been changed, it’s still nothing compared to the Ubersaw. I have multiple Ubersaws as well, in vintage and strange qualities.

Weird Badges

There are a lot of badges in TF2, and many of them are from community events or competitive Team Fortress 2. None of my badges are actually impressive, but there’s one badge that sticks out for me. I have an Arena respawn badge. You know, the game mode that us SPUFers all played in a mini-event 6 years ago. While our mini SPUF event didn’t get any badges, I somehow received this one. It arrived in my inventory in 2019 of all times, despite saying 2015 on it.

Arena Respawn badge

The unusual thing is that this actually came alongside my UGC badges for 4v4 and 6v6, back when I played Competitive TF2 and hated it. But I don’t actually remember anything about this RETF2 badge, except for the fact that it glitched and caused some amusing broken looks and T-Poses.

A Specialized Killstreak Strange Kritzkrieg

The Strange Kritzkrieg, to this day, is insanely rare. The crates that it has appeared in have about the same chance as uncrating an Unusual. I actually bought my Strange Kritzkrieg very early on for about 10 keys. But back then, I wasn’t thinking of profits or anything, I just wanted to get all possible items for Medic. I don’t even like the Kritzkrieg that much outside of MvM. As to why it’s also Specialized? No idea, just is.

To this day however, Strange Kritzkriegs go for about $100 dollars on the Steam Market. That’s insane.

The SPUFer Dose

At some point, I was somehow considered popular enough for people to want to buy cool things for me. The SPUFerdose is the epitome of, uh, well, being popular on an internet forum. This Collectors Overdose consists of 200 normal Overdoses, fused together into a single item. My one though was sent to me as a gift from all our old SPUF friends, and is thus a gift I will keep for eternity.

The SPUFerdose

Sure, the Overdose isn’t nearly as good as the Crusader’s Crossbow. But I always used the SPUFerdose anyway because, well, it’s awesome. Can’t thank everyone enough for this neat weapon.

A Normal Strange Medi Gun

This item is by far the weirdest of the weapons here, and nowhere near as wide-spread. The last colossal Valve fuck-up was the Unusual Pandemic, where crates with a specific number had a 100% chance to be unboxed into an unusual. Unfortunately, I missed the Unusual Pandemic by a matter of minutes, so I, well, didn’t get an unusual.

Strange Normal Medi Gun

However, a Valve fuck-up of the distant past caused something far less exotic. For no real weapon, stock Strange weapons were appearing in the Normal Quality, the white-grey colour of any stock weapon. This Medi Gun works exactly the same way as a normal Medi Gun but it also counts kills, despite being a stock weapon. But don’t let the price tag in the picture above fool you. That €0,60 refers to standard Strange Medi Guns, not this glitched one. I’ve had people offering me 200 keys to buy this Medi Gun from me.

It was bought and gifted to me by old SPUFer Davjo. I’m never going to sell my Normal Strange Medi Gun though. It’s an amazing gift and something unique that I love, just like the SPUFerdose. And I absolutely despise selling things that have been gifted to me.

“Medic, they’re almost all Medic weapons!”

Well, of course they are. I am literally called the Medic. And while I have moved on to other games and other usernames, I still occasionally go back to being Medic.

In fact, I did a small experiment with changing my name here on the Daily SPUF for a week. We actually had a small drop in visitors, until I changed my name back to Medic.

So yeah, these items are all mostly Medic-related. But they’re still cool.

Medic

Medic, also known as Arkay, the resident god of death in a local pocket dimension, is the chief editor and main writer of the Daily SPUF, producing most of this site's articles and keeping the website daily.
