5 Weapons I’d Like To See in Warframe

There are many, many weapons in Warframe. We have everything from your standard automatic rifle, to powerful shotguns, all the way to arm cannons and infested bow that pull enemies together. We have so many weapons. Hundreds of them. However, there are still a few things that we don’t yet have in Warframe. So here are 5 types of weapon I’d like to see in Warframe.

Spears and Lances

Warframe has plenty of large, hard-hitting melee weapons. We have giant swords, giant hammers and various polearms. However, there’s a very specific type of weapon that is missing: the spear. One of the earliest tools, we as a race ever came up with, a long stick with a sharp end doesn’t look that interesting. But we can make them interesting. Ideally, spears would work as a cross between rapiers and glaives. You mostly have stabbing attacks like a rapier does, but you should be able to throw it as well.

I think part of the reason we don’t have throwable spears is because throwing weapons can easily be lost. There are so many unreachable areas that your weapon could get stuck in. However, if spears worked like spear guns, with the spears teleporting back after x amount of seconds, it could work.

On a semi-related note, it’s pretty strange that Warframe glaives look nothing like actual real-word glaives.

Guns with Bayonets

There is something that does surprise me a lot. We have Gun Blades, sharp, bladed weapons that can fire buckshot at enemies. But we don’t have this the other way around, a gun that you can stab with. Yes, I know we have Gunblades and Spearguns, but these don’t feel like baronets. The Gunblades shoot out a blast of bullets like a shotgun, while Spearguns are basically just really long normal guns.

However, a gun with a bayonet attached to it seems pretty cool, especially if you give it some interesting finishers to go with it.

A Medi Gun

I honestly have no idea how a Medi Gun would work in Warframe, but the idea of using a weapon to buff allied players is something I’d really like to see. All weapons in Warframe have killing potential, but none of them really offer buffs to team mates. Sure, killing enemies does also help team mates. Something that heals or gives buffs on the other hand would be an interesting idea.

Unarmed Fighting

For some reason, we don’t really have unarmed fighting. The only time you can ever use unarmed fighting is by letting yourself get captured by Alad V’s Zanuka. Doing this will force you into a rescue mission where you rescue yourself. Zanuka though are actually quite rare, and they also don’t do much damage, so even getting the chance to do this rescue sequence is insanely rare. However, even then, you’re only using unarmed fighting until you find your actual weapons.

That being said, I do think there is a spot for unarmed fighting. We have a handful of sparring weapons (e.g. the Kogake, which used to be a favourite of mine) but none of them see much love, mostly because of their lack of range. At the very least though, we should have a cosmetic or two that actually hide your equipped sparring weapon, so it looks like you are fighting with your bare fists.

Novelty Forgotten Items

Finally, we have some silly items. For example, once upon a time, there was a Christmas conclave event that used snowballs to take out enemies. It was a lot of fun, and people liked the snowballs. Unfortunately, they were never added to normal Warframe. The same goes for the single-shot Opticor variant, that was added as an event too. Heck, the Arcata, the weapon used in Lunaro, was slated to be added as a weapon for PVE too.

We are also still missing several weapons that only enemies have. The Nox is the most notable, what with it’s vastly superior version of the Stug, but Corpus Machinists have a unique variation of the Ignis that might also be fun. All these potential weapon ideas, just out of our reach.

Luckily, Warframe’s weapons are always rather unique, and they keep adding more to the game. Maybe, one day, these ideas might become reality.
