Tennocon 2022 Felt Kinda Rushed

Well, Tennocon has been and gone, and frankly, I feel a tad disappointed. It fall felt kinda rushed and thrown together last minute. But it also felt like I had seen most of this before. It all felt a bit like Tennocon 2021, with honestly not a lot going on.

At least we started with a brand new release. Khora Prime has been released and she is utterly beautiful. And, speaking of beautiful, Titania just got a brand new deluxe skin, which looks amazing. To the point that I want to play Titania.

There was also some sort of weird game trailer to something I didn’t quite catch. Weirdly, it was the first of two announcements that weren’t Warframe-related at all. On the plus side though, there does seem to be some progress on crossplay, which is the thing I am most looking forward to.

The larger part of Tennolive though was revealing the first mission of the Duviri Paradox. Just like they did with the New War, we got to see an opening animation, follwed by a playthrough of the very first mission in the quest. All I can say is that it is MASSIVELY like Groundhog Day, what with time being reset every time you die. There is definitely also some timey wimey stuff going on, like Teshin reappearing in some way. I am curious about this new place in the Void but it feels convoluted. Still, the horse is cool, as are the two katanas. It’s at least worth watching back, seeing if there are any little hints and secrets we are missing. Plus we do get a cool, gliding horse which is cool.

Really though, the main strength of the live stream was how awesome everything looked. The art and sound teams really nail it every time, and every update, even if it sucks, looks amazingly beautiful. The Duviri Paradox in particular is absolutely stunning. Travelling between greyscale and full colour really highlights just how amazing the art teams are.

What was also pretty damn awesome was the Veilbreaker trailer, which teased a new update. Despite all that happened in the New War, it seems that Kahl is alive, and he’s on a mission. Kahl’s presence in the New War was actually some of the most effective and powerful parts of the New War, so I am glad we’ll be seeing more of him. As for Veso and Teshin (at least the Teshin from our universe), they don’t seem to be so lucky.

But yeah, this Tennocon was… weird I guess. Something about it all felt a little rushed and not quite there. Like a Limbo who rolled once and can’t work out that he needs to roll again to get back to our plane of reality. However the problem is more that, well, we have kinda seen these things already. The whole paradox thing was revealed all the way back in Fortuna, YEARS ago. And only now are we getting it. The same applies to the wolf warframe and crossplay. Announcements of stuff we have been expecting for years already.

Still, there is some good news. New games are always cool, even if they look eeriely familiar. Please don’t be a Dark Souls-like game, Soulframe…
