Legendary Rank 2
So, after a really weird grind, I finally made my way to Legendary 2, the current (at the time of writing) highest rank you can get. I originally wasn’t actually chasing after Legendary Rank 2, but after playing a bit of Citrine’s Last Wish, I realized I was way closer than I thought. So I decided why not, and went ahead to farm a few things.
And by farming, I mostly mean trading. After selling a Legendary Core (probably the one I got for reaching Legendary Rank 1, ironically), I put some platinum to one side and traded for Khora and Harrow Prime. On top of that, I grabbed a bunch of cheap prime weapons – the Hysterix, Knell and Strun Primes. It wasn’t all trading though. Because I actually enjoyed the farm, I also went and grinded for Citrine, the newest (at the time of writing) Warframe. Her mission was genuinely quite fun, and I quickly amassed enough shiny crystals to purchase the parts that I needed but were missing.
The leveling up didn’t take very long either. Between Sanctuary Onslaught and Mirror Defense, I actually managed to level things up within only a few hours. It does help though that I went to a relay beforehand and grabbed the True Master affinity buff. It’s only 25% extra but that extra affinity goes a long way.
The test was pretty easy.
Just as I’d predicted ages ago, the test for Legendary Rank 2 was pretty much the same as the Mastery Rank 2 test. Using a secondary weapon only, you have to kill three waves of enemies. This time though, you have to kill level 80+ Grineer, some of which are eximus enemies and heavy units. You can’t use any abilities or anything, but your Warframe does keep its mods. So you have the health and shields of your Warframe as normal. Interestingly, you can also do mercy kills on the heavies and the eximi, which kinda just work for flair. For any MR31 player, the test is honestly a piece of cake.
That being said, I wouldn’t recommend going in with a freshly forma’d Warframe with only basic health mods, because the Grineer’s attacks do actually hurt, and you can’t use your abilities to really heal yourself. On the plus side, there are a large number of secondary weapons you can use. I went in with my Kuva Twin Stubbas and ended the challenge with plenty of time left over. I also used Inaros simply because I didn’t want to care about health. Honestly I overestimated the Grineer and finished the test with ease.
But why did it take me so long?
Simply put, I stopped playing Warframe for basically a whole year. During that time, we actually got a lot of new weapons. Both Veilbreaker and Angels of the Zariman introduced a lot of new weapons, but they’re stuck behind syndicates that I’ve barely started playing, let alone leveling up and buying their gear. There’s also the Tenet melee weapons that Ergo Glast, the leader of the Perrin Sequence, sells. In fact, there’s enough stuff left over that players are actually getting close to Legendary rank 3! And, most likely, the test will be the same as MR3, where you need to kill enemies with your melee weapons only.
But I’m not too fussed about Legendary Rank 3. I’ll get to it eventually. For now, I’m just going to enjoy the minor perks of being a fresh, new Legendary Rank 2.
