On Playing Dagath

I’ve honestly been pretty late when it comes to new Warframes. I still haven’t managed to get any Qorvex parts, despite being rank 4 with the Cavia. Sure, I can buy the parts from Bird-3, but they cost 20k standing each, and that’s a lot of standing, when bounties only give a maximum of about 5k each, assuming I do the hardest bounties. At the same time, I put off farming for Dagath for ages. It wasn’t that the farm for Dagath is hard, but it was boring.

The problem was that I waited for a resource booster. It turns out, the item you need for Dagath, vainthorns, are a mission reward, meaning they’re unaffected by resource drop boosters. These vainthorns were the reward for completing an exterminate in the Abyssal Zone, and taking a Defixios (basically an Orokin key that gives you a debuff) to extraction. The exterminate mission isn’t the hardest, but it randomly turns into an Eximus Stronghold halfway through, which is made worse by the Defixios debuff that the game gives you. On the normal star chart, you get 6-8 vainthorns per mission, but the Steel Path rewards 8-12 vainthorns. The downside is that, on the Steel Path, 50% of the enemies are Nox, which are never fun to deal with.

In the end, when I finally got a resource booster as a login reward, I quickly realized that the resource booster was pointless, then decided to just grind out the mission on my own. I still have 10 Abyssal Zone beacons left over, which I need to use if I want to unlock her signature weapon.

Luckily, Dagath’s blueprints are all just copied from Dagath’s Hollow, a buildable room in your clan’s dojo.

So now that I have Dagath, what do I think? Well, I definitely enjoyed playing as her. Her abilities are all fun to use, and she does lots of viral damage, which is always a good damage type to use. I find myself spamming Wyrd Blades and Doom a lot, since Wyrd Blades doesn’t last very long, and Doom debuffs nearby enemies, making them take more damage, so they die more quickly. Rakhali’s Cavalry is probably the only Headless Horseman bit about Dagath, but it is pretty strong and it strips defenses pretty nicely.

What also interests me is her get-out-of-jail-free card. Grave Spirit works similarly to Oberon’s Phoenix Renewal, where, if you take fatal damage, you get resurrected, you get some invulnerability and the ability goes on a cooldown. However, Grave Spirit, you just activate it and forget about it. Sure, it goes on a cooldown when you do trigger the free revive, but when you do trigger it, every enemy killed drops a health orb and you get 100% dodge chance for 10 seconds. And it only has a 25 second cooldown, compared to the 90 second cooldown Phoenix Renewal has.

I also really enjoy how Dagath looks. I’m not a fan of Rakhali’s skull on her shoulder, but I can just take that off. I think she looks great, definitely very spooky. However, I’m not a fan of her default helmet, her alt helmet is a lot nicer. What’s also nice is that she takes my standard Warframe colours REALLY nicely, and I feel nice and death-god-y as I play her.

So yeah, I’d recommend Dagath. She looks cool, she’s fun to play and her farm honestly isn’t that bad, it’s just boring.
