Blimey, These Pokemon GO Events are Nonstop!
Seriously, events in Pokemon GO are pretty much nonstop! There’s so many of them that they blur into each other! While there’s always a bunch of events early in the year, we seem to be getting even more of them. In the last 2 weeks alone, we have had Valentines Day and Lunar New Year events, alongside some more lore-based events, tied to the Season of Heritage. But now these events are really stacking up.
As of writing, multiple events!
Right now, there are three events going on, somewhat. The first is the season itself, which has unique spawns and raids. On top of that, we have a Valentines Day event with new research and two collection tasks. And on top of that, we have a global challenge of gift-giving. If we collectively send 70,000,000 gifts (70 million!), then we unlock a timed bonus of x3 Transfer Candy. And then we have the Go Battle League weekend events where you get lots of stardust. On top of all of that, there is also a Love Cup going on, featuring Pink Pokemon only.
And if you bought the Johto ticket, there’s even more! Two simultaneous tasks have popped up, one offering a Noibat hat (a Noihat?), the other offering random items. Both these require catching hundreds of Pokemon. Literally hundreds. You need to catch 600 Pokemon for the Noibat hat.
What even is the point of seasonal spawns?
Each Season has had its own common and unique spawns. Season of Heritage, the current season, somewhat leans into rock, steel and ground, although it also has your common flying and bug types as well. But we never actually get a proper look, because we get at most 1-2 days before the next event starts! Back in the previous season, Scyther was noted as a rare spawn in the northern hemisphere. But because of all the events going on, I only ever saw one Scyther, and even then, it was on my radar, out in the dark.
We’ve had constant events to go alongside the normal seasons that we only get brief looks of what the season actually is. Sure, one can argue that “no one likes the non-event spawns” but we’ve reached a point that we hardly get a chance to see them, let alone catch them.
It’s honestly getting a bit silly now.
We’re at the point where there is almost always an event going on. And frankly, it’s exhausting. I’ve taken a step back with all these events, only catching stuff for my Pokedex, or doing the odd raid. It turns out, I’m getting burnout from every event. So I’ve changed my tactics and, well, I just don’t play as much as I used to. Doesn’t help that the thing I like most, doing raids, has been dull, with no desire-able Legendary Pokemon to fight.
But clearly Niantic knows something we don’t, because we’ve been getting more and more events with fewer and fewer gaps. The constant stream of events might be too much for someone like me, but they’re probably great for others. Especially people who hate the standard seasonal spawns. They’re probably making a ton of money due to the fear of missing out as well.
Still, it’d be nice to calm down on the events a tad…
