Atlas Fallout Foundation – Terrifying Emergency Alert Systems
I’m not really a fan of Youtube horror, but there’s something about emergency alert systems that really go beyond the normal scary things out there. While I have watched things like Mandela Catalogue, Gemini Home Entertainment and Local 58, none of those have really stuck with me. I’ve never actually seen an emergency alert in real life, but I’ve seen videos of real ones and they are genuinely terrifying. The nuclear strike hoax in Hawaii was the biggest and best example of emergency alert systems, and that was scary even for people not in Hawaii.
Atlas Fallout Foundation is a Youtube channel I stumbled across that creates emergency alert systems for fictional scenarios. I had watched one or two such videos before a long, long time ago, and I’d seen some recommended to me after I finished Gemini Home Entertainment, but I never really watched such videos. However, Atlas Fallout Foundation just sorta popped up on my feed one day, with a video about the universe heating up. I was curious enough to decide to watch, and found myself hooked. The video didn’t end in a good way, but it was intriguing enough that I checked out the rest of the channel.
What I found was pretty good. The channel is somewhat young, in internet terms, with only about a year or so’s content. The videos have gotten longer over time, and there are several multi-video episodes, one concerning a teleporting planet and a hostile enemy race, the other featuring a rather scary parasite. I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of the multi-parters, they kinda go on for a bit too long. What makes Atlas Fallout Foundation’s videos good is the level of certainty to them. In the Heating Universe video, the conclusion is obvious but powerful. Probably the most terrifying video is the rapid aging one, where the whole world seems to just collapse. It ends with a message saying that you are on your own, no one is coming to help you. The into to each video is also pretty harsh. It’s this dull echoing sound that is probably more dread-inducing than some of the earlier videos, and really sets the mood.
Most of the videos are set in the year 2026 or later, and most of the emergency alert systems come from the US, and occasionally from the UK. However, in newer videos, there have been emergency alerts from other countries, such as Japan and Russia, which makes for a nice touch in videos that have worldwide threats.
There’s also an SCP-like feel to these. The Atlas Fallout Foundation has various ratings on all its videos in the descriptions, and each one has a specific category, danger level and security level. In fact, the whole channel kinda works similarly to SCP, with the idea that it is documenting parallel Earths and alternate universes, where strange things happen, so they can be avoided in our universe. It’s an interesting premise, and gives a nice background to the majority of videos.
Overall, I’d give the channel a recommend. If you get anxious easily though, I’d avoid it, since the last thing you want on your mind is a catastrophe. And these videos have a good way of clinging on to your memories…
