My First Handheld Gaming Console

The other day, I actually did something rather out of character. People who know me well often describe me as frugal or cheap. I’ve always been unwilling to spend a lot of money on things I like, and always take the cheapest option. Even when I’m supposed to be treating myself to something nice, I still take the cheaper route. And if I can’t justify a purchase, I simply don’t get it. However, for once, I actually bought a proper treat for myself. I bought a Nintendo Switch Lite. For about €300, I bought myself a Nintendo Switch and Animal… [Continue Reading]

“But Medic, why is your Volt yellow?”

Readers new and old have probably seen a recurring pattern on this blog. Many pictures of Warframes used in my articles have a pretty bright colour. Most of my gear is coloured yellow, using a strong yellow from the free Halloween palette. Depending on the Warframe, I’ll add black and a tertiary colour, so I’m not 100% a banana. The question though is WHY do I look so derpy, in my nearly-banana look? I could have some actual decent fashion sense, but I am dedicated to yellow. Why though? To stand out from a crowd The most obvious reason is… [Continue Reading]

I Absolutely Adored the 12th Series of Taskmaster

Taskmaster is currently my favourite show right now. It’s a UK comedy show that I’ve talked about before, explaining why I love it. There have been eleven prior series, with series 12 just finishing a few days ago (as of publishing). However, for series 12, I swear it flew by way too quickly. Why? Because I absolutely loved the entire cast. As far as I’m concerned, this was one of the best series by far. I enjoyed every second of series 12. But why? The cast was amazing. I’ve never seen a happier cast. Normally, there’s some sort of mini-conflict… [Continue Reading]

The Platform (2021)

So I just watched a Spanish psychological horror film called The Platform on Netflix. It was an unveiled critique about capitalism and the terrible acts our society spurs people to do on every level of it. Highly recommend, it was a great watch that left me and my friends discussing it for a long time afterwards. (If you don’t want to be spoiled, you should go watch the movie before reading any further.) But this article isn’t actually about that, it’s about this: In this video, the YouTuber gives six “solutions” to being imprisoned in the Hole that are absolutely… [Continue Reading]

The KID A MNESIA digital exhibition

To celebrate 21 years of music, namely Kid A and Amnesiac, the band Radiohead have done something pretty cool. They’ve gone and commissioned a digital exhibition, showcasing both the art and the music of their two albums. How Radiohead have done this though is pretty damn cool. They made a 3d digital world in which you can experience Radiohead’s art, both in drawings and music. It’s an… interesting experience KID A MNESIA is a strange thing. It has pretty standard and simple controls – all you can really do is walk around and occasionally sprint. Meanwhile, everything just sort of… [Continue Reading]

Arty Boosts in Group Confidence

When I was small, one of my favourite TV shows was Art Attack. As the name suggests, it was an art show. However, Art Attack was aimed at kids, and many of the things featured were made out of stuff found around the house. With just a few pieces of card, one can easily make all sorts of things, from towers to space ships to monster-shaped bins. As I got older though, I gradually moved away from using cardboard and similar things from Art Attack. Aside from a brief period making Team Fortress 2 weapons out of cardboard, I found… [Continue Reading]

On Writing Over 2000 Articles – Medic’s 2000th article

Writing articles is interesting. With a story, you can normally do what you like, and everything has a chronological order. Articles on the other hand aren’t always as chronological. Non-fiction stuff requires research and sources, and opinion pieces tend to need backing up in some way. Writing in general is somewhat like a magical path, with lots of potential ways to go. But writing is also pretty difficult. Taking the words in your head and putting them on paper can be a chore. And when it comes to writing consistently, it’s easy to get dissuaded and upset if you can’t… [Continue Reading]

A Random Chat About A Scan

The other day, I experienced something new. On my doctor’s request, I went to a radiology clinic to get an MRI done. In fact, this MRI was so unusual and new to me, that I feel it’s worth talking about. For those who don’t know, an MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging) is a way of viewing and inspecting inside your body. You basically sit in a giant magnet while radio waves bounce around, generating a view of inside your own body. While X-rays are normally used for bones and the like, an MRI is used to view our more squishy organs.… [Continue Reading]

On Being Able to Drive

I’ve just gotten back home from a trip. The drive varies, taking anywhere between an hour and a half to two hours. It’s certainly not a long drive, but it’s a long and rather boring journey. I’ve talked about the journey in the past and it’s not even that big a trip. For anyone from not-a-tiny-island, the journey is pretty damn insignificant. And it also says a lot about my attitude to driving. Which, admittedly, isn’t the best. I genuinely hate driving You’d think that the freedom of having a car would make me feel happy. But I don’t enjoy… [Continue Reading]

An Awkward Bout of Writers’ Block

I’m not going to lie, things have been tough lately. Not in any particularly worrisome way, just, well, I feel out of sorts. A bit frustrated, very tired and all that sort of thing. When these emotions come along, the first thing that changes is my ability to write. Simply put, I have a massive case of Writers’ Block which I am struggling to escape from. No patience to write While I do have some free time, free time does not equal writing time. Free time can be spent on all sorts of things, like watching Youtube videos or attempting… [Continue Reading]
