Necrozma Raid Day

Oof my luck. I think Necrozma hates me. Okay, I do love me my raid days. And since this season’s bonuses includes 2 orange raid passes a day, you could squeeze out 8 free raids. Normally though, I get a shiny, and with raid days, the chances are apparently 1/10. So I made the mistake of buying raid passes. After 21 raids, the best I got was one 14/15/14 Necrozma, and a 2-star XXL Necrozma. No shinies, none with decent IVs. Also managed to get a 10/10/19 one. And it sucked knowing everyone else was getting shinies – I can… [Continue Reading]

Falinks Raid Day and Some Raid Weirdness

There’s something fucky going on with raids right now. The raid bosses are broken. I noticed this first when doing a Lucario raid (need that XL Candy!) and I noticed that the raid boss was doing charge attacks way more often than normal. Later on, I was invited to a Kyogre raid and I realized something was very, very wrong. It basically did Blizzard after Blizzard after Blizzard. In fact, the Kyogre was doing Blizzard charge attacks as fast or faster than my own Pokemon were. Thankfully, there were 17 people in this raid and the Kyogre still died (and… [Continue Reading]

Mega Heracross Raid Day

Raid days are fun, and it’s nice to have a chance to get a shiny for a Pokemon that’s normally a regional, but I feel kinda ripped off about this one. It was a pretty standard raid day, and we did get 8 free raids (5 additional passes, plus the previous day’s pass, plus this month’s bonus of two free passes a day) and I did a few extra raids with premium passes. Most of the raids, we did as a duo, me and my brother, because he really wanted the shiny, and Heracross is one of his favourite Pokemon.… [Continue Reading]

Primal Groudon Raid Day

These constant raid days have been great, but damn, my luck has been all over the damn place. Primal Groudon Raid Day is the raid day I’ve been waiting for for a long, long time. One of my goals in Pokemon GO was to get my 100% Groudon to level 50, but it’s becoming more and more clear that this isn’t going to happen, not for a long time, and not without walking every single good Groudon I have. This raid day was pretty much identical to the Primal Kyogre Raid day, except easier. Primal Groudon, being a dual ground/fire… [Continue Reading]

Primal Kyogre Raid Day

Honestly, I love all these raid days. An event with free raid passes and a cool Pokemon. Mostly. Primal Kyogre though is one hell of a raid boss, and definitely something you need a good team with. This Pokemon hits like a truck, even if you resist water moves, doubly so if it’s raining and Kyogre is weather-boosted. While you CAN do a Primal Kyogre raid with 5 accounts, you need 5 GOOD accounts with level 35+ Pokemon and a TON of revives, especially if Kyogre has Blizzard as its charge move. Blizzard is by far the worst move because… [Continue Reading]

Hisuian Decidueye Raid Day

While they’re not technically ‘days’, considering they only last from 2pm to 5pm local time, I do like Raid Days. They disappeared for a while, during and after the main bulk of the COVID pandemic (which we are technically still in), before becoming a once-per-season thing. However, the last two seasons, we’ve seen more of them, and the current season has had one a month, for each of the Hisui starter Pokemon. February 2024 had Hisuian Decidueye, the evolution of Rowlet. Okay, sure, we just had Rowlet Community Day back in January, but I guess they wanted to release normal… [Continue Reading]

Hisuian Typhlosion Raid Day

It’s nice that we’re getting more raid days. So far, we’ve had Hisuian Samurott, Wyrdeer and now Hisuian Typhlosion, with Hisuian Decidueye coming next month. It’s nice to get some free raid passes, not get a shiny and start eating into your premium raid passes, hoping you’ll finally get some better luck. But yeah, on Jan 14th, we had a raid day for Hisuian Typhlosion. Now, there’s something about Hisuian Typhlosion that kinda creeps me out. It’s too… drunk. It looks like it wants to seduce you in an alleyway, steal your soul then take your car on a joyride.… [Continue Reading]

Wyrdeer Raid Day

Raid Days vary, and today’s one was kinda basic. Wyrdeer is the Hisuian evolution of Stantler, a (rather ugly, sorry) normal type introduced in Generation 2. In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Stantler evolves into Wyrdeer by using a specific move with the agile style a fuckton (i.e. 20) of times. In Pokemon GO, Stantler can’t evolve, and instead you can only catch Wyrdeer in this weird raid day. It came complete with a supposed 1/10 shiny chance, but no special moves or anything like that. As always, we got our 5 free raid passes, plus one if you had one from… [Continue Reading]

Mega Garchomp Raid Day

November 11th featured the first Raid Day in a long time, involving a new Mega Pokemon, Mega Garchomp. While we did have a Gible Community Day a few years back, this event allowed us to finally Mega Evolve the Garchomps we’ve had for so long, as well as the chance to catch some more Garchomps. The Garchomps had a chance to be shiny, and you got up to 5 free raid passes by spinning gyms. There were plenty of raids to be had. As a somewhat new feature, each raid would last 1 hour, and, after the raid ended, a… [Continue Reading]

Kleavor Raid Day

I like raid days. You get five free raid passes and get to do a bunch of raids for a Pokemon with an increased shiny chance. Kleavor Raid Day is no different, although it IS a Pokemon from the Pokemon Arceus game, which means it does stick out a bit. This raid day follows the normal formula. Kleavor appears as a three-star raid boss on all available gyms. There’s not an infinite amount of raids though, so once you’ve done one gym, you can’t get a second raid on it. That being said, you can only have so many raid… [Continue Reading]
