A Week of Love and Hate 3 – A Place for Love

You know what I really, really, really hate? More than the billion shitty variations of maps like trade_minecraft and achievement_idle? When some part of my computer, this time my external hard drive, decides that it’s going to kill itself in some way and totally screw up an event I planned. But I’m not letting the potential death of my hard drive get me down, or get in the way of an event.

A Week of Love and Hate

Yep, here we are, on the third… Season? Series? Episode? Whatever… The third Week of Love and Hate. And while there aren’t that many entries, I can see that they are all either brimming with love or overflowing with hate. Just as they should be. And while I have you all here, I’m going to tell you all about my favourite map.

You see, I really, really, really like the map Arena_Badlands. More than normal Badlands. I’ve mentioned the map before, but I might as well mention it again, because it’s a map that works. It’s a map that has something for everyone, from Snipers to Scouts to Soldiers to Spies. Badlands is a lovely mixture of high and low ground, of different levels.

Weirdly, KOTH_Badlands isn’t actually as good as Arena_Badlands, because unlike Arena_Badlands, the action is forced around the control point, which is actually pretty easy to hold. Arena_Badlands doesn’t really need the control point, and by the time you do, there are rarely any people left to contest it anyway.

It’s a shame though that other Arena maps don’t even get seen. Okay, Watchtower is bad, but Ravine is a cool map. We will probably never see a KOTH version of those.

Actually, speaking of Watchtower, that’s probably among my least favourite maps ever. It’s designed for Snipers and is the only map with breakable glass, going against general TF2 design. Then again, if it wasn’t for that breakable glass, the control point would be insanely easy to defend. It’s already incredibly hard to break in to due to the paths being easily blocked or entrances all being via low ground, but at least one of the billions of Snipers can snipe any Engineers that happen to hide there.

The rest of the map is a dumb circle, and the area below the watchtower is basically a dead zone, filled with people who have fallen off the narrow walkways to the control point.

Anyway, you’re waiting for articles. And potentially prizes. The prizes will be announced at the end of the week. Because this idiot was about to back up their stuff just as the problems happened and wasn’t smart enough to back up the codes for the prizes. There are prizes, I swear! One for the best love article and one for the best hate article.

As for all the articles, they can be found via the ‘a week of love and hate 3’ tag or by the banners at the bottom of each article. Also the Related Articles thingy should point you in the right direction.

Hope you all enjoy this week of love and hate. See ya!
