On Self-Help Books and Writers

Most writing about self-help is bollocks. There. I said it. It’s all bollocks. Chance and circumstance. Coincidence and blind luck. And very often nothing more than the use of common sense. What prompted me to write this? Well, I’ve always been stuck inside that social media circle, of older women looking for things they want and need and not finding them. The middle aged and older woman is the perfect target for the self-help market. A book one can read or listen to in your spare time, which is easy on the eyes and ears and doesn’t require too much… [Continue Reading]

Thoughts on an Infested Open World Area

When you look at the Plains of Eidolon and the Orb Vallis, one can’t help and think “what’s next?” Logically, if you look at what the Plains of Eidolon and the Orb Vallis are themed around, you’d probably think that an Infested-themed open world area would come next. But will it? I’m not so sure. I mean, it makes sense that an Infested open world would come next. After all, we have a Corpus area and a Grineer area, and the Infested are the other major faction. The other factions, the Orokin and the Sentients, tend to command everyone else… [Continue Reading]

So Many Pokemon and Nowhere to Show Off

In my six months of playing Pokemon Go, I’ve managed to catch some very nice Pokemon. Just the other day, I managed to catch my third Pokemon with perfect IVs, a Groudon with Mud Slap and Solar Blast, and I also managed to catch a shiny Shuppet and a shiny Kyogre. And then there’s my shiny Feebas, which I am in the process of walking so I can evolve it into a Milotic. I’ve come across a little problem though. It’s a stupid problem but it’s a problem nonetheless. There’s no real way to show my Pokemon off. The only… [Continue Reading]

Overwatch’s Brigitte

On March 20 2018, Blizzard added Brigitte to Overwatch. For the next year and a half, they nerfed her eight times and never buffed her once. I think that’s a pretty clear indicator of how horrendously she was broken on launch. The problem wasn’t that she could do everything. I mean, she could, but most of the supports are pretty versatile in this game. So what if she had a shield to block damage, a flail to deal damage at any range without reloading, a healing method that let her heal at close or long-range and convert extra healing into armor? All of… [Continue Reading]

Toggle Prime Details

The other day, I hit Mastery Rank 26, currently the highest rank you can get. Feeling proud of myself, doubly so because I managed to finish the MR26 test in one attempt without even seeing what it was, I decided to treat myself. How? By buying myself a nice Tennogen skin. I’ve actually been considering buying a Tennogen skin for a long time. It was always guaranteed to be for Volt, because Ivara’s Tennogen skins aren’t that nice (even the Youkai bunny-like skin) and Khora doesn’t have any yet. In fact, I don’t really want Khora Tennogen at all unless… [Continue Reading]

Writing About Writers’ Block

It’s probably a testament to writers’ block just how long this article has sat here, all empty and quiet. There are other article drafts that have sat around for longer, many of which are leftovers from the golden years of SPUF (rest in peace) written and started by people who never came back and will never be finished. Some of those articles may end up getting adopted one day, but as far as I’m concerned, they’re just part of the baggage around here now. They were still there when we hit 2000 articles and now we’re straying further and further… [Continue Reading]

Overwatch’s Moira

While I still consider myself a Lucio main, I’ve found myself playing a lot of Moira for the last year or so. It’s been a long time since I’ve written an article dedicated to an Overwatch hero, but I think the time is ripe to give my thoughts on the most versatile healer in Overwatch. Support mains are spoiled rotten in Overwatch. Blizzard has given us so many exciting heroes, all with their own methods for keeping the team healed, but none of them have quite so many different ways to heal as Moira. She can tag nearby teammates with healing spray, tag faraway… [Continue Reading]

A Complete Lack of Mesa Prime

You know what? I was going to do one of my weird ability breakdowns and warframe review articles because there’s quite a few frames that I’ve missed, the most obvious one being Mesa. Mesa is a hugely popular gunslinger-based Warframe who very recently got a Prime upgrade. Mesa Prime looks amazing and comes with a bunch of very nice weapons, the Akjagara Prime and the Redeemer Prime, all coated in that lovely Orokin gold. I had planned to write a nice little article about how cool both Mesa and Mesa Prime were, then show off some nice fashionframe for Mesa… [Continue Reading]

Minecraft and the Power of the F3 Key

Fun fact: If you press the F3 key while playing Minecraft, you get to see the Minecraft Debug Overlay or Menu. You might need to press the FN key as well if you’re on the laptop, buy by pressing the mighty F3 key, you are given this all-powerful, horrifically messy bunch of numbers and letters that cover the top of the screen. Well, it may seem like a horrible mess, but this overlay gives you critical information that you can take advantage of. The most important information on the Debug Menu are your exact coordinates. You can see exactly where… [Continue Reading]

The Old Wheel Map

One of the unique things about the Daily SPUF is our ability to write very detailed articles on very small, specific things. Sometimes multiple articles, if the very small, specific things become big enough. Today, I’m going to do that again, not for a Team Fortress 2 thing or a Warframe thing, but for a map in Gang Beasts. The Wheel map has been around for a long time in Gang Beasts. It is a Ferris Wheel on a platform in the middle of an ocean. The wheel has 8 compartments and constantly spins round in one direction. The platform… [Continue Reading]
