1000 Days Logging In And All I Got Was This Armour Set

I finally hit it. The 1000 login milestone. Actually, I hit it about two weeks ago but got distracted by a bunch of other things and never got around to writing about it. But either way, Maroo (it’s always her or Simaris, my two least favourite allies) popped by, said some random crap then left me with the Lodestar Armour Bundle.

Really, you’d think, after 1000 days, I’d actually call login rewards by their proper term, Daily Tributes, but oh well, they’re daily login rewards, that’s what I remember them as.

The Lodestar Armour Bundle is the last of the major login rewards. From now on, every 50 days, I’ll get to pick one of three “evergreen” rewards, which, amazingly, have an A-B-C rotation. When I hit the 1050 day milestone, I’ll be able to pick from one of three reward bundles – three forma, three exilus adapters or 4 weapon slots, none of which I particularly need as a MR27 player. The B and C rotations of evergreen rewards are much more impressive, featuring a choice of 50k Kuva, 30k Endo or 3 7-day boosters for my 1100 login reward and a choice of pistol, rifle or melee mods for mt 1150th login reward, complete with riven slots.

But anyway, back to the Lodestar armour. It’s got an obvious sundial theme to it, just like the Lodestar Syandana which was the reward for 800 days. The Lodestar bundle comes with two leg pieces and two shoulder pieces, all with a sundial-like blade on them, and a large, round chest piece that moves on its own with a spinning animation.

It’s a nice set of armour. The colour channels are a bit weird but there’s a nice combination of normal textures and metallics. The chest piece may be a bit bulky on some skinny frames but it sits comfortably in the middle of one’s chest. The same… can’t really be said for the arm and leg pieces though.

You see, they float. They seem to just float above your Warframe’s body. Especially the leg pieces. I’m not even using this armour on skinny Warframes that don’t play well with armour in general (looking at you, stick-leg Octavia!), I was seeing massive gaps on buff Warframes like Oberon! The worst offender though, at least with the Warframes I was playing around with, was Loki with the Knave skin, the leg pieces were basically floating.

I do find this weird because you can sometimes get this on Syandanas as well. Some Syandanas don’t fit nicely on the backs of some Warframes, but they have a sort of peg that connects the Syandana to the Warframe. It’s not always an elegant solution but on simple Syandanas it works fine. I’m not sure why the Lodestar armour doesn’t have this.

What makes it worse is that the armour actually clips into Volt Prime’s metallic knee parts as well, which looks painful more than anything else. So I can’t really use my new fancy armour on my favourite frame.

At the end of the day though, it doesn’t matter too much, since the Lodestar bundle is an armour set I got for free, and the frames which don’t have this problem (like Rhino pictured above) look really nice. Just the right amount of metallic and armour. And on top of that, you can only see these gaps from certain angles, many of which you won’t notice while playing.

But it’s still annoying, you know? Why can’t that armour just be attached to my Warframe’s body?

Medic

Medic, also known as Phovos (or occasionally Dr Retvik Von Scribblesalot), writes 50% of all the articles on the Daily SPUF since she doesn't have anything better to do. A dedicated Medic main in Team Fortress 2 and an avid speedster in Warframe, Phovos has the unique skill of writing 500 words about very little in a very short space of time.
