Use Whatever Colours You Want

I’ve sometimes spent hours trying to make myself a new colour scheme for one of my various Warframes. With so many colour palettes and cosmetic options, it’s hard to be decisive. But at the same time, it’s also sometimes tricky to make yourself unique. Some people will worry that they look cliche to edgy or whatever.

My suggestion? Just do what you want. It’s not like anyone else will really notice.

Wear the colours you want.

I like the colour yellow, so I wear the colour yellow. As to why I like the colour yellow? I don’t know, I just enjoy standing out. Normally I’m rather tame and quiet and shy. But in my fancy space ninja game, I like to stand out a bit, because I can’t really do so in real life. The colours I use are also tied to a fictional character of mine.

Plenty of people will probably think my Volt looks crap. I don’t care though. I’m perfectly happy with the look I have.

An awesome Volt and an awesome Zenistar
It’s worth it though…

It doesn’t matter if you’re not completely unique.

Some people may complain about using “unoriginal” looks, but these days, nothing is original. So what if you’re using the “same old Orokin look”? The Orokin white and gold theme looks amazing. Who cares if you’re being called ‘edgy’ for using red and black? If you like it, then more power to you!

Even my own yellow and blue isn’t completely unique. Sure, the number of other people I’ve seen with the same colour scheme as me is definitely under 50, but there’s still people out there as yellow as I am.

However, it doesn’t actually matter about being unique, because everyone will have their own twist on things. One person’s Orokin theme is different from someone else’s Orokin theme. And there’s a billion ways to use red and black. Heck, there’s a ton of different ways to be a pink Rhino, considering how many damn pinks there are in our colour palettes.

No one will ever see you.

In the grand scheme of things though, most people won’t even really stop to look at you. The majority of players will never see you and those that do won’t notice much anyway. Warframe’s a stupidly fast game with more people caring about efficiency than standing around.

But on top of that, there’s so many players all the time that people just don’t notice. Even if you’re a pink butterfly Rhino, most older players have probably seen tons of them already. The time spent standing alongside other players and the sheer number of other Tenno means that you’re basically invisible.

Loki being his normal stealthy self. I actually play very little of him these days. He's still traumatized from the War Within.
You’re not even really there. Might as well be a Loki.

Worst case scenario, someone recognizes you and you have a laugh.

Seriously though. Take a moment and think about the worst thing (realistic) that could happen. You appear in someone’s screenshot or video or stream. Someone laughs briefly. Or says you look cool. That’s it. There’s no long-lasting harm here at all. And even then, even if someone does recognize you and laughs at you, they’ll probably have forgotten in a couple of days. You have to go out of your way to really stand out.

And, somehow, if you do manage to get recognized in the long term, then you’ll just spawn a bunch of copy cats.

At the end of the day, you should dress your Warframes how you want. Wear the colours you like. After all, it’s just a silly game about space ninjas. Life is too short to worry about what people think about your own space ninja…
