Doing Lich Missions With An Under-Leveled Warframe
For reasons unknown, I have decided to start forma-ing my original Volt. The one I started the game with. Despite being inches away from Mastery Rank 29, I still have him. Even though I have a perfectly serviceable Volt Prime. That little Volt got me through the early game, so I feel like I want to give something back to him. By forma-ing him to perfection.
But because I’m stubborn, I didn’t want to just level up Volt on Hydron or Elite Sanctuary Onslaught. I just decided to take him on my day to day business.
So I decided to take Volt Lich hunting.
I actually had a Lich that was ready to be converted. Recently, I’ve been playing with randoms. And somehow, I ended up unlocking all my murmurs before even seeing my Lich. This is good because I’ve always wanted to kill a level 1 Lich. I’ve managed to kill a level 2 Lich before and I’ve seen other people kill level 1 Liches, but I have never managed it myself.
This was the perfect opportunity. And, to rub salt in the Lich’s wound, I was going to take my freshly forma’d Volt. Who was level 5 and hadn’t unlocked Discharge or Electric Shield yet. Frankly, with the Kuva Bramma and my trusty Pyrana Prime, I was hoping for a quick and easy fight.
Of fucking course, I got the combination wrong every time.
I actually got the combination wrong 3 times. Considering I had all 3 murmurs and had a 1 in 6 chance of getting it right and a 1 in 4 chance on the second attempt… Well, it sucked.
But it also sucked more and more for my little Volt. Because level 50 enemies aren’t too bad. Level 100 enemies are a bit of a problem. Not because they are hard to kill, but because they hit like a truck. That can be troublesome when you have hardly any armour. And it’s worse when you have random teleporting enemies. Because this Lich was of the teleporting type, and his Thralls copy that ability.
I did eventually convert the Lich, but it took too long. Mainly because he only appeared in Mobile Defense missions. Which are long and tedious. The Lich started on Phobos
My point is, there’s a whole new feel to the game when you have a squishy frame.
You have to actually play differently. Okay, sure, everything still blows up and dies if you shoot things. But when you don’t have much health, you really need to move more. Cover becomes very important, just so you don’t get swarmed. Bullets can come from any direction, so you need to cover your back a little bit.
The most important thing is rolling though. Rolling is a lifesaver. Seriously, that brief damage resistance will give you enough leeway to escape a messy situation.
“Well, duh, Medic, that’s obvious!”
Yeah, it is obvious. But it’s also easy to forget. We spend so much time nuking the hell out of everything that we don’t ever feel… weak. We are normally insanely strong, even if we’re playing squishy frames.
If anything, the whole game feels wildly different when you have to… be a bit careful.
It’s all strangely enjoyable.
It’s a pleasant change from the norm. Sometimes you don’t want to be a weapon of mass destruction.
