3 Ways K-Drives Could Be More Cool

K-Drives are cool. They’re giant hover boards used by two kinds of future orphan kids. You can do tricks on them and drive-by shootings. Yet, somehow, people don’t seem to use them. Despite being so cool, K-drives don’t see that much use. However, we can easily fix this. All we need are a few tweaks.

Here are three easy ways that K-Drives could be made so much cooler.

1. Make them faster

K-Drives are fast, but they’re not that fast. They’re never going to beat Archwings when it comes to speed. After all, Archwings can fly over mountains and things like that. A K-Drive is stuck to the ground mostly. So, really, they’re never going to catch up.

So why not just make K-Drives super fast? They’re still bound by the terrain and ramps and stuff, so why not? Of course, you’re not going to go super speed straight away, but you should be able to at least toggle your speeds. Everything from a lumbering roll to sprint speed to LUDICROUS SPEED!

2. Give us way, way more customization

We’ve got a couple of ways to customize K-Drives but they’re not great. Heck, the base K-Drive can’t be customized at all. And the path to getting your first K-Drive is pretty long and tedious. Okay, sure, your first K-Drive is just like your first Amp. It’s supposed to be kinda crap, but the fact that you can’t customize it is kinda lame.

But even base customization is still… kinda lame. You can change the colour of your K-Drive, add a ‘scrawl’ on the bottom… and that’s kinda it. We should have way way more scrawls, and probably more skins as well. And maybe the ability to put scrawls on K-Drive skins. Sure, sticking a scrawl on the bottom of a Velocipod doesn’t make much sense. But a Velocipod being the living equivalent of a K-Drive is crazy anyway.

Would also be cool to have custom trails and engine styles for them as well, since you’ll see those way more than you see your K-Drive’s scrawl.

3. Let us use melee on them

As of writing, you can use secondary weapons on K-Drives. But Archwing allows primary and secondary. And Archwings also have cool abilities tied to them. But the one thing that Archwing doesn’t allow is melee. Okay, sure, in actual Archwing missions, you can use Arch Melee. But Arch Melee weapons are also kinda crap.

Normal melee on the other hand is great. In Archwing though, using melee forces you out of your Archwing. However, being able to use melee on K-Drives would give K-Drives their own niche. I don’t think the ability to do full melee combos would really work, but a quick melee would be nice. Just a simple swinging animation, so you can clothesline enemies as you zoom past.

Bonus number 4: Let us build our own skate parks!

We should be able to build our own skate parks. Sure, the Orb Vallis and Plains of Eidolon do have some nice areas to grind off of, and some cool ramps. But those all need to be daintily placed into their environments. The ability to build our own skate park means we can build whatever we want. And we wouldn’t have to try and blend ramps and grind rails within any sort of environment.

You’ve seen what people do with dojos and obstacle courses, just imagine what we could do with our own skate parks!
