Retvik’s Top 5 Favourite Primary Weapons in Warframe

There are a LOT of weapons in Warframe. So many in fact that it’s easy to lose track of what you have and have not mastered. Every update almost certainly brings a new weapon or two with it, as do new Prime Access thingies. Many weapons are overlooked or plain forgotten about. As for me though? I’ve reached Legendary 1, the formerly mythical MR31. And after all these years, I can finally relax and just use the weapons I want. Rather than rushing through things for Mastery.

So here are my top five favourite primary weapons in Warframe.

Favourite Weapons - Ignis and Bramma
Favourite Weapons – Ignis and Bramma

Kuva Bramma

The Kuva Bramma is an explosive bow. It’s a terrifyingly powerful weapon, so much so that the Bramma has been nerfed multiple times. Even then though, the Kuva Bramma easily murders your enemies, and in an explosive manner as well. The only downside is that, because there are so many explosions, it’s really easy to keep hitting yourself with knockback. Thankfully Cautious Shot and Primed Sure Footed can help with that. When I just want to mindlessly murder things, the Kuva Bramma is always there to back me up.

However, the existence of the Kuva Bramma does suggest that there was a normal Bramma in existence. I’d love to see what a non-Kuva Bramma would look like. Not that it really matters though, because most Kuva weapons are superior to their normal counterparts.

Supra Vandal

I like bullets. Just like Heavy Weapons Guy, I like shooting a big gun at people. However, in Warframe, Archwing weapons are a bit of a pain, and the majority of weapons don’t have a large magazine/clip size. However, the Supra Vandal has all the bullets. With no mods, the Supra Vandal has a clip size of 300. The same that Heavy has. But, with mods and Rivens, I can bring that up to almost 500. For a while, I was running around with a Supra Vandal with a magazine size of 680!

Unfortunately though, people caught wind that the Supra Vandal was good, so its riven disposition dropped through the floor. Now, even with my riven mods, it’s hard to get over 450 without using up too much mod space.

It’s still a great gun though.

Prisma Grakata

It’s a Grakata. A shiny Grakata. I can’t help but love this amount of daka. I also have a really good riven mod for the Prisma Grakata, which pushes its critical chance to 101%. This thing is a monster in the right hands. I’m just patiently waiting for a Prisma Twin Grakata to come out at some point.

Mutalist Cernos

One of my long-time favourites is the Mutalist Cernos. People slept on it for years, not really using it because, well, it was a bow that shot fart clouds. The Gas damage on it wasn’t particularly good. However, with the addition of the Split Flights mod, you can turn corridors green with deadly toxins. With some additional multishot, one can make hideous amounts of arrows appear. Especially since enemies hit by the gas clouds count towards Split Flights conditions.

Funnily enough though I actually hated the Mutalist Cernos for a bit. Back when Riven Mods first came out, the Mutalist Cernos was considered pretty trash. And during this time, I managed to acquire SIX RIVENS for the Mutalist Cernos. SIX! And because I disliked the weapon, I sold all of them for cheap. My 7th Mutalist Cernos riven however, I kept it. Mostly because Split Flights really buffed the bow.

While the Proboscis Cernos is another step up the Cernos ladder, I still find the Mutalist version way more enjoyable. If I wanted enemies to be connected together, I’d play Khora instead.

Ignis

The clear winner though is the Ignis. And the Ignis Wraith. But mostly the normal Ignis. “But why not the Wraith one, Retvik?” Well, it’s mostly because the Ignis was the first weapon I specifically farmed for and actively put Forma into. I put the 6th Forma into my Ignis just before the Pacifism Defect event came out. Sure, I did secure an infinite supply of Ignis Wraith blueprints. I’m actively still giving them out if anyone needs one (message Retvik in-game if you need one). But my normal Ignis not only helped me by teaching me to mod better, it also happily carried me through my early Warframe days.

While the rest of the weapons on this list are commonly used, my Ignis still remains as the one Warframe weapon I forma’d the most.

Medic

Medic, also known as Arkay, the resident god of death in a local pocket dimension, is the chief editor and main writer of the Daily SPUF, producing most of this site's articles and keeping the website daily.
