The Massive Gold-Plated Elephant in the Room

The New War is a very long campaign that both answers a lot of questions and also causes us to ask even more questions. While that is expected in a Warframe quest, we haven’t had a quest as long and perilous as the New War. This quest claimed to leave visible scars across the solar system. But did it?

Please be warned, we have hints of spoilers in this article. Please read this article first.

Did the New War really cause that much pain and destruction? Yes, it did. But does anyone really notice?

No, not really.

Everyone has been eerily quiet after the New War. A solar-system-wide event occurred that could have killed pretty much everyone. While the planets are all still miraculously in one piece, there are dead Murex scattered all over the star map.

They could have gone a bit further with this though. The Murex probably destroyed hundreds of ships, but that sort of debris hasn’t remained as vast and destroyed, the same way thew Murex look and feel. The only wreckage at a glance belongs to the Sentients. But all that damage and destruction should have been visible inside normal missions Perhaps a few new rooms could be added, where Sentients have broken in, or where a Sentient ship has crashed into them.

But no, normal missions and rooms get no special treatment.

Only the open world areas seemed to be noticeably different.

The Plains of Eidolon are the most obvious place where you can see a difference. However, it’s all mostly surrounding the entrance between the Plains and Cetus. The edges of the Plains just seem as lonely as ever. A lot of the damage was done to the Unum, the Orokin Tower that protects Cetus. While it’s nice that we were able to explore its insides, the damage done to the tower is most likely permanent.

However, Fortuna was far worse off. Hunks of debris everywhere and tons of work clearing up. Both the ‘stage’ area and the sign above Legs had been destroyed and there’s still remains of Sentient and Orokin decorations covering the area. Apparently Vox Solaris suffered many heavy losses and were almost exterminated, the remaining people who stayed all becoming slaves to the Sentients instead of the Corpus. They also lived with Deacons all around them, ready to attack if anyone got in their field of view. The Deacons are long gone, but there is a strange, awkward feeling in the entirety of Fortuna and no one seems to like it.

The Orb Vallis though is very, very different. In the Vallis, it’s as if the season has changed, progressing from winter to an early spring. Much of the snow has melted and more trees are starting to blossom. This is due to the extra and smaller coolant towers that the Sentients added. It sounds pretty nice, up until you see the Sentient Murex floating in the distance.

NO one talks about the New War.

What annoys me the most though is that no one talks about what happened. Aside from the Lotus herself, everyone else doesn’t even mention the New War, let alone comment on it ever happening! Everyone is absolutely silent or says what they normally say.

I would blame all of this on the weird mind-control helmets that Ballas gave to everyone. But not everyone was forced to put a helmet on. Little Duck for example somehow managed to escape that mess. That being said, I don’t actually know how they were capturing Solaris people, since most of them have their heads in their chests.

At the end of the day, the Origin System has been changed, for better and worse. But the people living inside it seem to ignore the fact that anything happened, or just shrug it off and try to get back to business.

Our success is met with cold glares and utter silence. Things have definitely changed, but no one wants to discuss it out loud.
