Warframe Weapons that I Completely Forgot About but Used to Use all the Time
The other day, I was looking back through some old Warframe screenshots when I made a sudden realization. My weapons these days are all powerful ones, like the Kuva Bramma or the Arca Plasmor. But I wasn’t always kitted up. There was a lot of time spent leveling up weapons then moving onto the next one. However, even with my many years of grinding the newest shiny, there were weapons that I loved which, unfortunately, ended up getting forgotten about. Here’s to a trip down memory lane for some of my old favourites.
Rakta Cernos
I’ve always liked bows, they’re cool weapons. The Cernos family consists of nothing but bows, from, well, a normal bow, into a Primed weapon and two horrific, mutated weapons. However, the Rakta Cernos often gets left out. Why? Probably because it’s a Syndicate weapon, belonging to the Red Veil. Stat-wise, the Rakta Cernos fires pretty quickly and it has a unique holster position, held centrally on your Warframe’s back. But since there are now three Cernoses better than the Rakta Cernos, there was no way the Rakta Cernos would ever be able to keep up.
Kogake
For a while, I was really into using sparring weapons. There was nothing more cathartic than punching a Corpus guy in the face. Especially on capture missions. At the time though, there was only Kogake and Obex, and it wasn’t until later that we got Grineer and Infested sparring weapons. The Hirudo, the infested sparring weapon, is probably your best bet these days.
However, the Kogake was also good because it worked a bit like a cosmetic. While other players flaunted wings made from Boltaces, I used the Kogake to give my little Volt a bit more style. The little rings looked similar to Volt’s default armour pieces on his arms and were almost always visible. A small fashionframe for a small Volt.
Soma and Akstiletto Prime
I always liked to use the Soma Prime when it was somewhat new, so when I saw a miniature, dual-wielding version of the Soma, I was blown away. Slowly but surely, Soma Prime somewhat faded away, but the Akstiletto Prime didn’t. They felt like a pretty strong weapon with a cool firing and reload animation.
Unfortunately, these days, there are so many dual pistol weapons that the Akstiletto Prime fail to keep up, the same way its big sister did. In a world of Twin Stubbas and Grakatas, there’s not much room left for the Akstiletto Prime to shine through.
Fluctus
Fluctus does still get used, mostly for its massive punch-through in Orphix missions. But back in the old days, the Fluctus was the only Archwing weapon worth using at all. The Grattler could do self damage and the only other Archwing gun worth using was the Imperator Vandal, which was an exceedingly rare drop only during Fomorian events. These days though, Archwing Guns have grown a lot more powerful, but most Archwing guns are still bad, and the Fluctus falls behind things like the Mausolon and Cortege.
Sonicor
I’m still sad about the Sonicor. I have one with 3 forma in it, as well as a Riven Mod. I’ve also bought many of the skins the Sonicor has, aside from the Banshee Deluxe skin. But ever since Blast Damage was turned to shit… Well, the Sonicor didn’t stand much of a chance after that. Since enemies no longer flew away or at least stumbled, the Sonicor had nothing else to show and fell out of use pretty much everywhere.
While yes, you can still play with these weapons without any problem, even get great Riven mods for them. It just kinda sucks how all of them fell into obscurity…
