Little Things That Bug Me in Destiny 2

With a new season just coming out, it’s back to farming for levels and bounties, mixed up with some new story stuff and a new 6-player mission. However, I’m taking a quick break from said season, because there are some things that are bothering me about Destiny 2, and I wasted most of my energy trying to get to rank 100 on the previous season pass. Anyway, here are some things that annoy the hell out of me.

Ledge Grabbing

Destiny 2 has ledge grabbing. If you are a tiny bit short on a jump, you can grab onto the ledge and pull yourself up. Well, in theory. In practice, a ledge being grabbed or not feels… random. I mean, I assume the ledge grabbing is dependent on how close you are and how high or low you are, but it’s just not at all consistent.

On top of that, when you’re already as bad as me at parkour, it adds insult to injury.

The H.E.L.M.

Sometimes things really annoy me. And the HELM is one of those damn things. It’s been an important part of the Tower and the last few Seasons, but it’s its own stupid location. Despite the Helm being in pretty much the same place the Tower is, you have to teleport to it yourself. There’s an entire loading screen between going to the HELM and going to the tower. It makes absolutely no sense that the Helm and the Tower are two separate places.

Luckily, the HELM is no longer a heavy-traffic location, but you still have to go to the Helm for season update quest dialogue. But considering how small the Helm actually is, I’m genuinely surprised that they didn’t just stick a teleporter on the Tower or something. Because an entire loading screen to one small (and now underused) area seems silly. The same applies to the base on Mars, which is linked to the Throne World. But that base on Mars does have an excuse because the Throne World is in fact very far away.

Turns out the Helm isn’t actually connected to the Tower. It’s just a ship in low orbit above Earth. But it’s still an extra loading screen, especially when Season of the Haunted requires is to get bounties from there.

Not being able to summon my Sparrow whenever I want

Okay, sure, I get it, summoning a Sparrow in a cave is a bit weird. But many activities have areas that aren’t covered, or aren’t that deep underground. So why can’t I summon my Sparrow there? Actually, why can’t I just summon it anywhere? I can fit 9 rocket launchers in my backpack, and I do have a hammerspace-like inventory, but Sparrows are apparently just too big. Meanwhile, our landing crafts can drop us off or pick us up whenever and wherever we want.

Never having any special/heavy ammo when I need it

It’s always the way. Whenever I need heavy ammo, I see nothing but special ammo. And whenever I need special ammo, all I see is heavy ammo. Always.

Now, I could somewhat easily fix this. I could just being a scavenger mod or something, that spawns ammo if you do certain things, or if you have a certain weapon. But there are many far more interesting mods that I’d like to use instead.

No loadout slots

My biggest pet peeve? There’s no easy way to save loadouts. So if I want to change from my Void build to a build using Stasis, I have to go through and change all my gear pieces one at a time.

The only thing that helps are external game tools like DIM (Destiny Item Manager), which let you change your gear remotely. However, why the fuck do I have to rely on an app just to organize my gear.

Anyway, these are the main things that annoy me. Maybe now that I’ve ranted about them, maybe I can be less annoyed.
