My 5 Favourite Useless Pokemon

Let’s face it, not all Pokemon are equal. Or even close to equal in any way what so ever. Still, that doesn’t mean you can’t love a Pokemon, if it isn’t very good. You can love a Pokemon no matter how useless they are. And here are some of the useless Pokemon I happen to love.

Shiny Wurmple

Shiny Wurmple

JUST LOOK AT IT! LOOK HOW CUTE IT IS!

Okay, I’ll calm down. But honestly, I do very much like all the shiny low level bug types. They;re a big part of the beginning of any Pokemon game, being small and soft and easy to knock out. Wurmple just happens to be the cutest of all the low level bug types.

But Wurmple is even better when you put a party hat on it. Sadly, I’ve not been able to get a shiny Wurmple in a hat. They’re pretty darn rare.

Pupitar

Shiny Pupitar

The main reason I like Pupitar is because it evolves into Tyranitar. But there’s actually two other reasons why I like Pupitar so much. The first reason is that shiny Pupitar looks fucking awesome. It’s a lovely deep purple, and it affects the entirety of Pupitar’s body. Sadly, while both Larvitar and Tyranitar are still cool, they’re nowhere near as purple and awesome as Pupitar’s shiny form.

The other reason I like Pupitar is, weirdly, how it moves. Its whole body is motionless apart from the very tip at the bottom, which Pupitar uses to hop around. The sight of a walking Pupitar is hilarious.

Hoothoot wearing a hat

Shiny Hoothoot

Hoothoot is a normal/flying type that kinda sucks. It’s honestly a staple in most Pokemon games. Just like the aforementioned Wurmple and the bug types, there HAS to be a low level bird type in the first area of any Pokemon game. Red and Blue had Pidgey and Spearow, which were both okay. But Generation 2 had Hoothoot, which honestly just looks pretty weird.

However, if you stick a hat on Hoothoot, a weird owl thing becomes a dapper gentleman, ready to serve. It’s an utterly adorable Pokemon that has lost the ability to evolve. Probably for the best though because I don’t really like Noctowl.

Noibat

Noibat

Noibat is one of those 400 candy Pokemon in Pokemon GO, and evolves at an annoying high level. It’s also got mediocre stats and has a massive head which makes it hard to fly. Seriously, Noibat’s head and ears are huge. It’s still very cute though. Unfortunately though, unlike Magikarp, the OG useless Pokemon, Noibat does win in the looks, cuteness and style departments, but Magikarp is simply better. After all, you can beat the Elite 4 with a Magikarp alone.

For reasons unknown, I have multiple lucky Noibats. Sadly, they’ll remain as Noibats for a long, long time, unless we suddenly get a Noibat Community Day or something. Actually, considering our last few Community Days, a Noibat one doesn’t seem that far off. After all, we did get Deino rather quickly.

Giratina Altered Form

Giratina Altered Form

Okay, technically this one is cheating. Giratina in its Altered Form does actually have a little use somewhere. But nine times out of ten, you probably want the Origin Form, which is better than the Altered Form. And honestly, Giratina Altered Form’s only real use is in Ultra League, with the maximum CP being 2500. But Giratina’s life will become a tad more useless when the Dragapult family comes out. Dragapult is simply a better Dragon/Ghost type.

That being said, I still love Giratina in his stompy form. I love all these useless Pokemon.
