Where are our Pokemon stats?

While kicking some Mystic fools out of a gym and making it yellow, I actually noticed something I normally skip over. On the versus screen, by each player’s name, is a line of text saying “Battles won”. For most of the Pokemon in that gym, the number was zero. However, for the Rhyperior I was using, he had been in and won 150 battles. A coincidentally round number. I finished the battle and then went back in to finish off a Teddiursa, and I noticed that the Rhyperior’s “battles won” stat had in fact gone up.

This led me to a strange question. Where are all the stats for our Pokemon?

Okay, we do get a few stats. The weight and height of a Pokemon are a familiar part of Pokemon, even if they’re just cosmetic. Well, mostly. We have Heavy Balls for a reason in the main games. But we never really seem to get proper stats for, well, anything really.

For example, that 150 battles won by my Rhyperior? You only ever see it on the battle screen while fighting gyms. I don’t know whether it’s ONLY for gym battles, but I doubt it, because the Rhyperior I was using was relatively new. There’s no way of ever knowing though because the battles won statistic is only ever seen briefly, on a screen that most people ignore and tap past anyway. What would also be interesting is a “battles lost” statistic. Maybe have a win/loss ratio or something? Or, more importantly, have a Pokemon’s battles won statistic on the Pokemon’s page, either alongside total distance walked or when you appraise them.

Thing is, Pokemon GO does actually track a lot of things. But finding out where those stats are can be tricky. Your total steps is right there on the main player page, but the battles won statistic is only visible when looking at someone’s profile while waiting for a raid.

Player stats are at least a bit more visible. Somewhat. You get what’s on the main Me page and it lists total statistics. Well, some of them. Distance walked, Pokemon caught, Pokestops visited, total experience and your start date are all decent information. However, what’s missing from here are combat stats. The only place where you can see battles won, distance walked and Pokemon caught is on your friends list, just below the options to send a gift, battle or trade. But you can’t easily see your own. In fact, those stats are best seen via one of your friends finding you in their own friends list.

At least the Buddy Journal is helpful. It’s got plenty of stats, such as a total walked together, how many times you’ve battles together and, most importantly, how many berries you have rammed down its throat. This information is easy to access and covers most of the information that you want.

At the end of the day, Pokemon GO does give you a lot of statistics about how you’ve played. But a lot of it is particularly easy to find, or stuck in some rarely seen menu screen. And we could always do with some more statistics, like a Pokemon’s win/loss rate and things like that.

Seriously, some of my Pokemon are ancient and I’d love to easily see how many battles they’ve fought in their day. Wish they’d update the statistics so we could easily see all that hidden stuff somewhere

I’ve been thinking of exactly this for a while.

I was battling a gym on my way to work this morning, for example, and the Tyranitar I was using had won something like 3400 battles, vs the other player’s Pokémon that had only won 75 or so. I’ve wondered if there is any way to access those battle stats, other than on that pre-battle splash screen.

And you bring up an interesting point. Is it that that particular Tyranitar I was using had actually won 3400 battles? Or have ALL of my Tyranitars won a total of 3400 battles combined?
