Medic Plays Pokemon Violet – Part 9

So the next gym on the list is a Water gym. It’s located in Cascarrafa, which happens to be next to a pretty large desert. It’s supposed to be a bit of an oasis, and has running water at least. So the first thing I do is find the gym, which has a lift for you to get up to it. But as I approach the gym, someone rushes out of it and disappears, followed by a secretary shouting. Turns out, the water gym leader has forgotten his wallet, which is something that seems to happen a lot around here. The secretary asks me to take Chef Kofu’s wallet and give it to him in Porto Marnada. She says if I do, she’ll consider it my gym test.

I mean, uh, ok then…

I make my way to Porto Marnada, which is on the other side of the desert. Because I am feeling lazy, I’ll just fly over there instead of driving or riding or whatever.

Once I reach Porto Marnada, I find the chef very easy to find, panicking that he’s forgotten his wallet and is going to miss the auction of rare ingredients. Before I can hand back the wallet, some guy interrupts, saying I shouldn’t interrupt the chef. Two Flower Tricks from Ringo later and he backs down, giving me 4k for beating him.

Confused guy

The chef turns around, is surprised that I gave him his wallet back and didn’t steal any money (I kinda wish I could though) and then GIVES ME 50K. He wants me to use that money to win the auction on some very rare sea weed, which will be perfect for cooking with. I win the auction and get to keep the 5k left over from the auction. An auction at which we spent 45K on some seaweed.

This gym challenge is dumb.

Anyway, back to Cascarrafa and I can finally do the gym battle. I think I’d rather collect Sunfloras than do the water gym ‘test’ again but at least it got me money.

Got a gym battle to lose
Kofu has a gym battle to lose

As I enter the gym, I am greeted by another random person from the Elite Four. I feel like they are stalking me.

For the gym battle, I did bring a second grass type. I’d recently caught a Tropius (the best banana boy) just in case Ringo the Meowscarada fainted. Welp, I didn’t need him. Just like the Titan battles, Ringo carried the whole team, absolutely destroying the chef’s team of water types. Which is honestly a shame because Veluza is a pretty cool-looking Pokemon. Wugtrio is basically a wet Dugtrio and Crabominable is a water type that terastalizes into a water type. I’m not sure why they bothered with the tera orb on a Pokemon that could actually counter a grass type if it hadn’t terastalized. Either way, I managed to complete the gym without taking any damage at all. Frankly, Ringo is getting too powerful.

Water gym defeated

With the gym battle out of the way, I have earned a new badge and am free to go my-

Oh no. It’s Nemona again. She wants to fight but doesn’t have the right Pokemon. So she rushes off, promising to fight me later. Phew.

Anyway, my next target is on the way. The next gym is a normal type gym. And guess which trainer has two fighting types itching to fight. Lucario and Hariyama are looking forward to this…
