I Miss Fortuna 69

In Warframe, we have relays and areas where Tenno can congregate and talk to each other. These hubs are entirely peaceful, with no guns allowed, and they generally house a bunch of NPCs which have things for us to buy. The first hub area you go to is either Larunda on Mercury, or Cetus on Earth, depending on which way you go. Then there’s places like the Orcus relay, the Zariman or Tenno Dojos which require a bit more work to access. Either way, these places are one of the few peaceful places in Warframe, and you’ll always see a chaotic mixture of Tenno doing all sorts. Most are there to start bounties or quests, or perhaps they’re in a relay, selling for ducats before Baro Ki’Teer arrives.

Sometimes though, people are in these places just for the hell of it.

Back when the Fortuna update was released, we ended up with a flood of relays opening up. As more players try to join an instance or relay, new instances are created so everyone can fit in. Due to the massive hype Fortuna brought, we managed to get to Fortuna instance 69 and beyond. However, while other relay instances faded away, players intentionally kept Fortuna 69 open. This created a ripple, and people would flock to the instance not just for the old “lol 69” joke, but as a community working together to keep the instance open indefinitely.

And by god, did they manage to keep the instance open for a long time. But sadly, due to updates and the 15 minute timer that forces you to leave and rejoin the game, Fortuna 69 didn’t last forever. A few times, the instance was re-opened by community passion and the occasional passing member of Digital Extremes, but due to those forced updates, the instance slowly faded away. It’s been over 280 days (based on this article) since Fortuna 69 fell, and efforts to bring it back haven’t quite managed to bring it back completely.

Sadly, Fortuna 69 is no longer available. Not even the Star Days Valentines mini-event was enough to bring it back.

But what I really miss is the conversations that we’d have. Things can get very philosophical in there, but everyone in Fortuna 69 was always happy to talk and overall pretty friendly. We’d share tips and tricks, we’d have people showing off their fashion, which also spawned a whole Fortuna 69 look, using bright pink and blue neons. Pretty much anything was up to discussion. Heck, we managed to hold a miniature wedding of two people coming together, with the Lotus acting as a priest.

What makes things worse though is that Fortuna is currently very run down. Since the New War update, Fortuna lost most of its bright neon colours, and instead we get a damaged, battered, grey Fortuna with wisps of pale red and faded gold. Parts of New War Fortuna are also completely missing. The old stage-like area is kinda gone, and some of the large signs are gone, ruining one of the best places to sit around, chat and idle.

Unfortunately, the community hasn’t managed to bring Fortuna 69 back. The closest we have gotten is around Fortuna 30, which, while technically impressive, didn’t last long because of an unexpected update.

Hopefully, one day we will get Fortuna 69 to come back. But until then, all we can do is wait and hope that maybe a developer will intervene…
