These New Warframe Updates are Pretty Neat

The other day, I somehow spent well over four hours playing Warframe and its latest update, Citrine’s Last Wish. I was playing the new Mirror Defense mode, farming for both the new Warframe and her weapons, as well as a currency of gems, to buy some miscellaneous bits and pieces from Otak’s new shop.

This update, Citrine’s Last Wish, is somewhat simple. It’s not a huge update, just a little update, mostly to keep us occupied while we wait for the Duriviri Paradox. But the update was also plenty good. We got a new Warframe, a little bit of fluffy lore, some new weapons and a new game mode. On top of that, we also got an amazing skin for Rhino, who has been begging for some new cosmetics for ages. All of this comes together as a nice little update to keep us occupied while we wait for larger updates. Both Voruna and Citrine are good content to keep people playing, as everyone likes a new Warframe. And new weapons are always nice, whether they are strong or just mastery fodder.

The game modes we’ve received have been pretty good as well. The semi-major update of the Zariman’s appearance added a whole new relay on the Zariman 10-0 ship, as well as introducing some cool void-based game modes. Alongside Volruna in the Lua’s Prey update, we got a new variant on survival. And Citrine’s Last Wish introduced us to Mirror Defense, a far superior version of a defense mission.

On top of these, we’ve also gotten some pity from RNG. If you don’t get the parts of Citrine while doing the mirror defense mission, then you can buy them with crystals found within the mirror defense mission. This means that if you are really struggling, there’s an alternate method. For me, rather ironically, I went and bought all of Citrine’s components from Otak, only to get an entire second set of Citrine while farming for the new weapon parts.

But these small updates have a major purpose. Because, as of writing, we are still waiting for the Duviri Paradox. This strange place is a new major quest line, similar to big updates like the New War. But DE have been very tight-lipped about it all, and the deadline for it to come out has been pushed back repeatedly. This new update will contain a quest that has you playing as not a Warframe, just like the majority of the New War. Apparently the Duviri Paradox will be set before the New War happens, but that doesn’t make sense.

Anyway, these smaller updates, like Lua’s Prey and Citrine’s Last Wish, are pretty vital right now. Warframe needs something to keep people playing and keep people interested, while Digital Extremes work on the Duviri Paradox. The update has been pushed back multiple times, and has been teased ever since FORTUNA came out! But the last few updates have clearly been slipping stuff in. After all, for a new game mode and a new Warframe, you wouldn’t expect that update to be 7GB. Duviri Paradox content is slowly being added in other updates, simply because the Duviri Paradox is going to be a massive update.

Still, in the mean time, these smaller updates have been great. It’s enough content to keep an older player like me satisfied for about a week.
