The Most Chaotic Hourglass Battle Ever

After a long day of doing Veil missions and working towards commendations, the members of the Barnacled Bastion realized that we had a lot of resources. Like, a lot a lot. We had so many resources that we had two storage crates pretty much filled with cannonballs, and we also had a huge amount of food and wood too. We had over a hundred mangoes and a good stack of pineapples, enough for us to all have something nice to eat. So, before ending our session, we decided to do one Hourglass battle, fighting as Guardians of Fortune.

Now, I was feeling a little nervous. My PvP skills aren’t amazing, and I had been playing with high and fluctuating ping all session. But still, there was no reason not to do a little bit of PvP, so we all hopped back onto our boat after selling and decided to do one last battle to end the session, and maybe get a crumb of experience for an otherwise very long grind.

So, we dived beneath the waves, waiting for an opponent. It didn’t take long, and we were greeted by a Servant of the Flame, which was already zooming against us. Just having a look at their team, we could tell that this might have been a scary fight. They were a ranked emissary, meaning this wasn’t their first battle. They had two skeletons, both with high-end cosmetics, as well as a guy kitted out in full Dark Adventurer gear. They also had a tattoo-covered half-naked lady pirate too. That’s expensive stuff. We had no idea what was about to happen.

It started with a massive volley of cannonballs, and we really got bogged down. I quickly jumped below deck to fix the holes, and everyone helped with bucketing. However, the other ship really had us pinned down at first, and it took a ton of effort to turn it around. We got very close to sinking, but thanks to some of the fastest bucketing ever, we turned it around.

That other ship though, they were still playing really aggressively. There was a constant flow of boarders. We’d kill or chase off one and another would appear. At the same time, we were pummeling each other with cannonballs, and we had to constantly keep on checking for holes.

Suddenly though, we collided. Both ships rammed into each other, causing tons of holes and even more boarders. There were fire and flames everywhere. Our anchor was lowered at some point, and we somehow managed to get that back up. At one point, I killed a boarder then died to the huge amount of fire on our ship. While me and Bacxaber kept the ship alive, Fox and Cat both leaped aboard the colliding ships and started shooting back. Masts on both ships were either cracked or knocked down entirely, and the air filled with smoke.

We abruptly got the advantage, with Bacxaber managing to completely chain their masts, and we leaped on the cannon and started firing into the other galleon’s side. Cat and Fox kept the enemy crew distracted while Bacxaber and I pummeled the ship, even managing to kill one of their crew with cannonball fire. With so much confusing carnage, the other ship eventually sunk with no one really knowing what was going on.

As they sank, we all said GG to each other, and we congratulated ourselves on the victory, one of the most chaotic battles I’ve ever experienced.  Sadly, the ship we fought was unnamed, so I doubt we’ll ever be able to fight them again.

Still, it was an amazing battle, and it really got the adrenaline pumping. Good game, unnamed galleon, good game…
