5 Things a Newbie Shouldn’t Do in Warframe

It’s very easy to get lost in Warframe, especially as a newbie. There’s a lot of content to do, and it requires patience. It also requires being careful, especially early on. Here are five things you should avoid as a Warframe newbie.

Never buy weapons from the store with Platinum

The majority of weapons in Warframe can easily be earned for free. And a large number of them are available in the Warframe store. But you need to be careful though, because buying a weapon from the store is VERY expensive. Instead, make sure you buy the BLUEPRINT of a weapon, and build the weapon in your foundry. Also, check out weapons from the labs in clan dojos, there are a LOT of weapons you can get from there. While buying a weapon with Platinum might seem like a good idea, it’s better to just grind for it the normal way, because weapons are HUGELY overpriced in the store. The only weapon that might be worth it is the Sibear, but it never goes on sale, so you’re better off grinding cryotic the hard way.

Never delete anything before it reaches level 30

One of the larger goals of Warframe is to collect weapons and earn Mastery, so you can increase your Mastery Rank and gain access to new weapons. But in order to squeeze every last drop of Mastery from a weapon, you have to level it to level 30. If you delete a weapon that isn’t level 30, you’ll need to build the weapon again and start from scratch. Once a weapon is level 30 though? You can chuck it away. But be careful though, some weapons go up to level 40, and they should not be chucked away at all.

Don’t put Slash, Puncture or Impact on your weapons

Modding can seem like a very complicated thing at first, but there are some basic rules you should learn right from the start. And one of those rules is that Slash, Puncture or Impact mods are all-round bad for newbies. If you want to deal more damage, then the most important thing to do is to use and upgrade the basic damage mods, Serration, Hornet Strike, Pressure Point and Point Blank. Once you have those, you can start looking into Multishot and Elemental Damage mods. These mods add way, way more damage than the Slash, Puncture and Impact weapons do. Once you’ve got the hang of things, you can throw in Hunters Munitions, which does slash damage but in a good way. But at first, you want to avoid those mods.

Don’t use improved relics on your own

If you are planning on opening a relic to get something rare, never use your void traces and use upgraded relics on their own. It’s always better to look at recruiting chat and seeing if you can join a squad. With four people using a radiant relic, you can increase your chances of getting what you need. I’d actually recommend against opening relics solo as well. If you join a squad, then you have a higher chance of getting something rare, simply because there are more of you.

While opening relics is a good thing to do as a newbie, be careful when trying to get rare parts. Sometimes it’s easier to just trade for the part instead.

Avoid getting yourself taxied to farming areas

While it does take time to level your gear up, I recommend against getting someone to take you to popular farming spots, like Hydron. Not only will you unlock these places naturally, but you also won’t burn yourself out. There is a lot more to Warframe than just grinding Hydron, and you can only experience it by playing things yourself. Also, you can earn Mastery by visiting every single node on the star chart, and you get 1000 Mastery just by doing junctions for the first time.

Overall, I recommend that you take things slowly. You’ll enjoy it all more if you do.
