On Prisma Weapons

As of writing, Baro Ki’Teer is offering a new Prisma weapon, the Prisma Ohma. This new weapon is a Tonfa, although it’s not very sharp, it’s much more of  a blunt weapon. Either way, the Prisma Ohma is technically an upgrade to the normal Ohma, and has slightly better stats. This is generally the case of most Prisma weapons.

What makes Prisma stuff so special? Well, according to Baro Ki’Teer, Prisma gear is covered in “Void-hardened Prisma crystals”. This doesn’t just make weapons shiny, it seems to give them a boost in power as well. The Void is known to upgrade things in the past. Incarnon weapons are actually an extension of that, as they are normal weapons infused with Void energy, turning them into more powerful forms. That being said, being both Prisma and Incarnon at the same time is actually possible. The Skana and Angstrum both have Incarnon Genesis forms that can be attached to their Prisma variants. Which is neat.

As I just mentioned, Prisma weapons tend to be a bit better than their non-Prisma counterparts. This follows basically all variants. Primes, Wraith weapons, Kuva and Tenet weapons, all of them are better than the normal version. However, out of those, only Prime weapons have different models. The others are technically reskins of the base weapon. However, the other variants are a bit easier to get than Prisma weapons. Prime weapon components can be traded, and you can choose what Kuva or Tenet weapon you want to get (even if it takes a while). Wraith and Vandal weapons are generally given out in events and are somewhat hard to get, and are occasionally part of Baro Ki’Teer’s offerings. Prisma weapons on the other hand only come from Baro Ki’Teer’s inventory, and he only appears every two weeks. And he’s not guaranteed to actually have a Prisma weapon on him, most of the time he comes with some primed mods and some cosmetics. So if you miss a Prisma weapon, all you can do is wait for Baro to bring it back. Or, if you want to spend money, a Tennocon ticket will allow you to visit a special relay, where Baro Ki’Teer sells everything he’s ever sold in one giant pile.

But there’s also lots of weapons that could benefit from the Prisma treatment. Since Prisma weapons don’t have to be tied to a single faction or weapon type, you can theoretically give a Prisma variant to any weapon. There’s actually already a handful in the game files that haven’t been released yet, notably the Prisma Fluctus. I personally would love to see a Prisma Sonicor, as I think it would fit quite well. Even more so if it caused enemies to be launched into space like it used to.

I’d also like to see more Prisma cosmetics, because why not? I’m sure sets like the Vetala, Syrinx and Pakal armour set would look amazing in Prisma form. Although I doubt they’d ever release the Pakal armour separately, since it’s in the Hunhow’s Gift bundle. Heck, give us a full Prisma Warframe, like the Prisma Excalibur skin that’s available in the market for Platinum.

Unfortunately, Prisma weapons require a lot of patience. But once you get them, you can always enjoy the small stat boosts that come with them. And Prisma weapons are also very, very shiny. Who doesn’t love a shiny weapon?
