5 Basic Things a Newbie Should Do in Warframe

Being a newbie in Warframe is difficult. There’s so much to do, so many things flashing at you, so many urgent things. Once you’ve gotten past Vor’s Prize, you’re basically left to your own devices, in a game that feels very unfamiliar. Luckily, there are plenty of things a newbie can do to get themselves started. Follow the Star Chart Unlocking planets is your best bet as a new player. Unlocking planets unlocks new resources and new missions to obtain Warframes. You also unlock various quests as you travel across the star chart. This process is somewhat slow, but you… [Continue Reading]

On Nearly Perfect Pokemon

When it comes to catching good Pokemon, there’s always a hope that you’ll get a Pokemon with 100% IVs. Getting a Perfect Pokemon is a rare thing, although there are certain ways to increase your chances. These ways include purifying Pokemon, opening research and trading Pokemon, especially with lucky trades. However, the chances are still very low, and even with these options, it’s unlikely you’ll get a hundo. Well, unless you purify a shadow Pokemon with stats at 13 or higher. But you often don’t want to purify Pokemon as shadow Pokemon are stronger. But there are some Pokemon that… [Continue Reading]

2013-2023: 10 Years of Daily SPUF

Phovos’ Nightwave critique yesterday clocked out 10 years of articles on The Daily SPUF! That’s right, on August 18 2013 we published our first article, a rant about Team Fortress 2’s Half-Zatoichi. Over the past decade since, we have published a new article every day without fail (except once), covering a huge swathe of games and topics from all across the Steamosphere and beyond, and we couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you who read, commented on, or submitted articles over the past 3,652 days. In order to commemorate the occasion, I wanted to write another… [Continue Reading]

How I’d Improve Nightwave

Nightwave is Warframe’s equivalent of a season pass. Do each week’s challenges and earn standing towards your next rank. It’s not the same as a normal season pass though, as it is completely free and has no ‘premium track’ on it. Whether you’re MR0 or MR33, whether you’ve spent hundreds or nothing at all on Warframe, you can jump into Nightwave, do some missions and get rewarded. However, there are some things that we could have to improve Nightwave. Here’s how I’d do it. More Warframe and Weapon slots We do get some very nice freebies in Nightwave’s rewards, but… [Continue Reading]

A Quick Review of Worms W.M.D.

I used to be a fan of the Worms series, starting with Worms Armageddon and Worms World Party, playing them as a kid. However, over the years, I kinda stopped playing them, mostly because we had other games on the PS2, and the Worms games we had were for the PS1. We did later try some of the 3d versions on PS2, Worms 3D and Worms: Forts Under Siege, but they just weren’t as fun as the 2D games. Later on, when I played on PC, I did have Worms 2 and Worms Armageddon on disk, and I later did… [Continue Reading]

Sandshrew Needs To Go Away

I’ve complained about individual Pokemon in the past. A while ago, I ranted about how Dragonite is ugly and fat and that Dragonair’s evolution makes no sense. Today, I am going to rant about another Pokemon. A Pokemon also from the Kanto region. In this article, we’re going to talk about Sandshrew. Now, normally, Sandshrew is an okay Pokemon. The name is a bit obvious, but eh, it looks alright. It’s a pretty basic rock/ground type. Sandslash is a bit on the ugly side, but I don’t mind it so much, since I still have a Sandslash I used back… [Continue Reading]

Adventure Week Was Pretty Good

If I’m honest, most of this year’s events in Pokemon GO have been average at best. For some reason, Niantic saves all the good events for various times of the year. February generally has a tour event and some nice anniversary stuff. August contains GO Fest and a variety of enticing events. October has Halloween and December has Christmas. Events in other months are generally not as big and can be quite lame. However, this year’s Adventure Week (which are normally in July) has been a pretty good event. Generally, Adventure Week (actually called Adventures Near and Far, but that’s… [Continue Reading]

Froakie Community Day

For the second month in a row, we’ve had a Water type as our Community Day Pokemon. But for August, we got a nice treat in the form of Froakie Community Day. Froakie is a starter Pokemon that evolves into the insanely popular Greninja. You know, like the Greninja in the anime. Well, not quite, we just got normal Greninja. Which we evolved from normal Froakies. Clearly, Niantic knew this would be a popular Community Day. We got both double stardust and double catch candy as the bonuses, which meant this event was very good for hardcore and casual players… [Continue Reading]

On Moving and Having So Much Crap

I have so much stuff. So much stuff just lying around. I don’t even remember buying some of this stuff, but here I am, looking at my stuff and trying to decide if I want to keep it. Or if I need it or something. I just don’t know. I don’t want to say that I am a hoarder, but I am a bit of a hoarder. I have a lot of things that could easily go into the bin or to a charity shop. Things I don’t remember buying. Things that get given to me to tidy away. I… [Continue Reading]

On Reviews for Overwatch 2

I don’t like Overwatch 2. I was born a Team Fortress 2 player, and Overwatch always felt like it was stepping on TF2’s toes. Back when Overwatch 1 came out, there were tons of similarities, but Overwatch 1 was tolerable as a game, even if it gave me horrible headaches. Overwatch 2 though, that came out and destroyed any respect that Overwatch 1 had earned. The sequel pissed all over players with horrendous micro-transactions, making things insanely grindy, making you work and grind or pay for new heroes and removing a whole player from your team, making it 5v5. And… [Continue Reading]
