My Favourite Picks from the Warframe Soundtrack

I love Warframe’s soundtrack. It’s always been a standout part of Warframe as a whole, and the music really gives the game an edge. But there are certain tracks that I feel go above and beyond. Songs that get stuck in my head all the time. Here are some of my favourites.

Sleeping in the Cold Below

I actually kinda missed this song in Call of the Tempestarii. When it came out, I thought Sleeping in the Cold Below was awesome, and I did write an article about it. However, when I played the Call of the Tempestarii quest, I didn’t have my in-game music turned on, so I kinda just killed Corpus as Sevagoth in silence. To this day though, it’s still a great song and probably one of my favourite sea shanties. Who’d have thought that a game about space ninjas would have great music for space pirates as well?

March of the Moa

March of the Moa is the music you hear on older tile sets, and also occasionally when you browse the market. I actually prefer March of the Moa over the newer Corpus mission tracks, but sadly most of the newer music isn’t even really out. Sites like Youtube and Spotify haven’t been updated yet, and there’s a lot of tracks that are missing. However March of the Moa does nail that Corpus combat feel, and it fits nicely as you mow through the Corpus’s ranks.

This Is What You Are

This piece of music is insane. It’s the longer version of the song The Second Dream, and it almost tells a story, starting off with a single voice and rising up as the Tenno wake up and become warriors, with a somewhat war-themed drum part in the middle, escalating in intensity as we find out who we really are, rounding out into a crescendo of chants, before suddenly fading away. I envision this song as the story of how the Tenno came to be, up until the moment the Lotus puts the Tenno to sleep in the second dream, before finally being alone.

There is one downside though, and it’s kinda the fact that This Is What You Are has been somewhat overused over the years. I mean, it’s not really a bad thing, but it’s basically Warframe’s theme song these days.

We All Lift Together

We All Lift Together is a classic song these days. But at the time of writing, it’s over 5 years old. Funny how time flies. Either way, We All Life Together is the perfect introduction to Fortuna and Solaris United. There’s both despair and hope in the song, despite the fact that we will all be adrift together. It’s a small thing that brings the denizens of Fortuna together as a family more or less. Rather annoyingly though, after the New War, you can’t replay the Fortuna intro any more, which is a shame.

Ghosts of Void

Ghosts of Void will probably always be my favourite track, especially since it’s a song I’ve used to fall asleep to. The song echoes from the past, the last voices of a lost, desolate empire, which we slowly travel through.

The best way to listen to this song is to take Ivara and head into a Void mission (preferably Exterminate) and just quietly wander around the abandoned halls. If that’s not your cup of tea, then listening to it on Youtube or whatever is fine.

Bonus Track – Whatever this song is

During Tennocon, they played music in the gaps between panels. One of the songs played was this track, which played just before Tennolive started. I don’t know why but I really like it. And it has lyrics. It played during the Whispers in the Walls showcase, where Excalibur fights the Fragmented Tide and the Fragmented One. It’s a great track, and I can’t wait to hear the official version.

Having written all this, I kinda admit that my favourites are kinda the same as everyone else’s. But oh well, it’s still good music, all worth a listen to.
