Timburr Community Day

Fighting type Pokemon are very valuable when it comes to raiding and PvP. There’s a lot of stuff weak to fighting, so you need a good team. So Timburr Community Day was a good chance to stock up on some good fighting types. Ranked pretty near at the top, this fighting type is a perfect candidate for any fighting-based raid. So it was definitely worth doing. Especially with the double candy and double stardust bonuses.

Shiny Conkeldurr

Conkeldurr, the final evolution of Timburr, is a pure fighting type Pokemon. It’s nearly as strong as Lucario and Terrakion, while also a bit more accessible. Well, kinda. It appears in raids occasionally, but normally it is about as accessible as Lucario, while Terrakion was last seen in raids sometime last year. None of them though are as accessible as Machamp, which has Machop in eggs and, occasionally, shadow raids.

However, this particular community day, you’ll probably want a friend or two. Because Timburr is a Pokemon evolution that costs a lot of candy. To evolve it, you need 50 candy for the first stage and 200 candy for the second stage. If you trade Timburr, the cost for the final evolution is reduced to zero. However, you can’t guarantee the stats after trading, which makes getting a good Conkeldurr pretty difficult. You basically have to pay a massively inflated price or randomize your stats. On the plus side, you might get a lucky Pokemon, which has guaranteed minimal stats of 12/12/12.

As for the special move? Well, it’s Brutal Strike, a dark move. This is similar to what Machamp got on its community day, Payback. These dark moves are designed to be cover moves, so that these fighting types have a chance against one of their main enemies, psychic types. Brutal Strike though is a better move than Payback, and it’s paired with a Pokemon that knows Counter, so apparently it’s pretty good. That’s only for PvP stuff though, where you’re meeting more than one Pokemon. For raids, you don’t want Brutal Strike at all. Instead you just want Dynamic Punch. Counter and Dynamic Punch are the best moves for raids. Conkeldurr is a very good Pokemon for PvE, so it is definitely worth getting a few. There are only three better Pokemon: Lucario, Terrakion and Shadow Machamp, so yeah, it was worth getting a few Conkeldurrs if you don’t have any good fighting types already.

As for me, I had a pretty shit community day. I was playing solo, but, to make matters worse, I didn’t have my second account. The little phone has died and cannot be revived, so I can say goodbye to that. Unfortunately this means I’m never going to get the shiny Xerneas I’ve been waiting to get via a lucky trade. I did manage to get enough candy to evolve four Timburrs (thanks to the fact that I had a lot of Pinaps and a Mega Medicham), but I actually didn’t get ANY good ones. The best I got was a low 3-star shiny, which I did go and evolve. But the cost of 250 candy is absolutely insane, and I wish that they’d reduced the evolution costs for this event. Sure, double candy helps, but it’s still a steep cost.

Oh well. It’s a good thing I already have some Lucarios, some Terrakions and an army of Machamp.
